It happens with any writer, the more you read them---sooner or later, deja vu sets in.They reuse plots, character types, even dialogue.Comic book writers are even more prone to self-plagiarism as they take on more titles while they're hot,and risk burnout.Who needs a rest?

I don't have a specific answer, since my problem with Bendis isn't so much the number of books that he's writing as it is being burned out on his team book/event stuff (my favorite period for him was when he was writing Daredevil, Alias, Powers, AND Ultimate Spider-Man). Johns seems to be doing alright.
The one thing I do miss is writers focusing on one title for extended periods of time. I'm thinking of Claremont when there was just the one X-book or Peter David on The Incredible Hulk. The closest to that recently would probably be Brubaker's run on Captain America for the first few years (though he wrote a couple of random books during that time).
I'd be more excited about the "Bendis on the X-books" rumor if the line were being cut down to one title.
