So which creatures from the show's past are due for a revival? Many of them would benefit from modern effects tech;the natives of The Web Planet look silly today, but rendering them with CGI would make them more convincing. That goes for many of the old classic monsters.

Android Yetis. But not the chubby ones from the Troughton era - some CGI badass Yetis would be good. Then I'd actually watch the show.

Seeing how they brought back the Macra, they should bring back the Chumblies from Galaxy 4.
But they'll probably just bring back the Ice Warriors, despite the honorable warrior thing being dead boring. I always dread the Ice Warrior adventures on audio.

Whether or not it was chance or a game that RTD was playing, he brought back the old monsters in the same order they first appeared in the classic series
Dalek in "Dalek", first seen in "he Mutants" in the Hartnell era
Then series two, The Cybermen in that Age of Steel two parter (and I don't really count the head in "Dalek"), first seen in Hartnells last adventure, "Tenth Planet"
Then in series 3, the Macra in "Gridlock" first seen in Troughtons' the Macra Terror.
The next old foe brought back was the Master in the 3rd series "Utopia", first seen in the Auton ep of Pertwees second season.
Then Davros in series 4, first seen in "Genesis of the Daleks" with Tom Baker
So really, the Zygons would have been the next to show up as they debuted in Bakers second season. but then Moffat came along and brought the Silurians back and messed up my theory. although he brought the Zygons and everyone back for the Pandorica Opens.

They came back in a two-parter called "The Sontaran Stratagem" and "The Poison Sky." It's a pretty old-school Who story, and not bogged down in ongoing continuity -- easy for a classic fan to watch as a standalone!

I'd like to see Zygons. I heard a rumor that it would be the Yeti, next, though.

that's right, I forgot the Sontarans, they showed up in order too. Damn that Moffat for screwing up my master plan.
I had not heard anything regarding the Yeti but that'd be cool. I'd like to think any tip of the hat to the Troughton era would work well in Smiths' time.

Sutekh (Pyramids of Mars) and his robotic mummies would be a good fun, as well. Not that I even watch it, but I'd like them to bring that guy back.

So, it's Moffat's fault that RTD skipped one of the few villains to appear in multiple stories? And what about RTD giving us the Autons in his first ever episode? Did Moffat screw that up, too? I think the only recurring villains not to re-appear are the Ice Warriors and the Rani.

And the Meddling Monk.
There really aren't a lot of recurring villains in Doctor Who, unless you count the Extended Universe where they'll bring back anything... like the Nimon.

They did an audio sequel to Robots Of Death. Brought AC back too in The Bride Of Paladon.
If I never read/hear/watch another Paladon story I'll be happy. Damn honorable Ice Warriors. What is it about Who and honorable genocidal monsters. I always want to slap writers when they do the Silurians or the Ice Warriors.

Yeah, CG Alpha Centauri would be guaranteed to make me watch an episode, though. And I agree that the Robots of Death were awesome. It's one of the very best Dr. Who stories of all time, for my money.

An old rumor had the Yeti returning for one of the Christmas specials.Hasn't happened yet. It's tough bringing monsters back. Cybermen are great creations, but there's not a lot that can be done with them. Stories like the Daleks In Manhattan two-parter show that trying something new with an old adversary of the Doctor is a risky business.

OK, I am a Who fan, but not enough to name all the villains. Which one, during the Baker years, was just a shimmering sheet of sparkly tin foil?
