I haven't seen them since 2002 but they were amazing then and are still one of the top live acts, and since this is the "farewell tour" I will drive up the Turnpike for this show. These are not all the dates just yet. Cinderella and Dokken will be openers. Sadly, we get Cinderella-boo!
PNC and Jones beach for this area and I think they're playing near Geff in WA?

IP, I've never heard of Ridgefield, WA. I'm going to have to google it, but I suspect it's a long drive.

It's 124 miles from me, near the Wa/Oregon border. My take is this is basically their Portland show, which may mean they'll add a Seattle date.

I may check this out at Jones beach on 6/22. That seems a good date for me (on vacation).

If the Jones Beach show doesn't sell out, and it probably won't, then you can get into the place the night of the show for $20 bucks. Then find a seat in the lower level.

I also bet the Yes/ Frampton show won't sell out so I'll do the same thing that night. Had to buy pre-sale tickets for RUSH though as they will sell out.

This sounds amazing! I believe they already did this a few years ago, but it would still be awesome to see. Glad there will be a DVD of it (which I think there was last time).
The Scorpions are squeezing every last bit of venom out of their farewell tour. The Get Your Sting and Blackout Farewell Tour has taken the band to every corner of the planet and, with the end now in sight, the group are looking to get a little nostalgic.
Bravewords.com is reporting that the German metal legends are planning a massive final show that will include appearances by former guitarists Uli Jon Roth and Michael Schenker, as well as drummer Herman Rarebell. Roth and Schenker helped put the Scorps on the map with guitar fans during their separate tenures with the band in the ’70s. The reunion show will take place sometime in 2011.
The band is also planning a Blu-ray and DVD of the current tour. In addition, Rudolf Schenker revealed that the band is sifting through some 800 hours of never-released footage of the group dating back to their early years. Schenker says the band hopes to begin releasing that material after the Get Your Sting and Blackout Farewell Tour concludes.

Call it animal magnetism or, perhaps, an elevated lovedrive, but the Scorpions just can’t get enough of North America. And so, the German metal legends have extended their farewell tour with more U.S. dates to come next summer. The band are currently booking next summer’s shows but have yet to announce any specific dates.
The North American leg of the Get Your Sting and Blackout Tour just concluded in Chicago on August 21, with the band playing in Mexico this Saturday and then heading back to Europe for further dates.
In a recent Billboard interview, singer Klaus Meine said, “What can I say? It's a celebration… We feel we owe it to our fans and ourselves to keep this energy level. What we pull off every night on this tour, we want to keep it that way to the very last show. We don't want to see ourselves rocking like a hurricane when it's not a hurricane anymore.”
In a recent video interview on the band’s website, guitarist Rudolf Schenker summed up the success of the farewell tour: “Nobody could believe that the Scorpions, the old farts, coming back and really kicking ass.”

from examiner.com: A founding member of German hard rockers the Scorpions, Rudolf Schenker has since 1965 been providing steady rhythm guitar in addition to his ageless onstage antics. As the band spends the rest of 2012 touring the world one last time, they continue to celebrate their legacy with their latest disc Comeblack and the new 3D (yes, 3D) concert Blu-ray, Get Your Sting and Blackout, which arrives today (Feb. 21). In this exclusive interview, I spoke with the boundlessly energetic Schenker about the film’s unique origins, why his homeland is the undisputed heavy metal capital of the world, and the plans in motion for the Scorpions’ final show ever. Tell us how this special 3D concert film came to be. About two years ago I saw Avatar, the 3D film, in Los Angeles. I’ll tell you one thing: I was so completely excited. I went to my manager and said, “Look, we have to make a 3D live recording.” He said, “No, no, no, no, it’s too expensive and the time’s not right.” But then one year later, a big chain called Media Markt came to us, because in 2010 we made the top ten in world tours, with AC/DC, Metallica, Bon Jovi, and U2. They said, “We want you to make this like 3D, this tour,” and we said, “We love it, we’d love to do it.” So we started doing it. We got a lot of money to use the best film cameras in everything, and we started to do it in Germany. It wasn’t our favorite location, but the director said for 3D, the location doesn’t have to be so big. So we did it and it’s fantastic. Now we’re on the next step, which is doing it as a new sound possibility, a new mix, which even makes the live atmosphere even better. That is the next step, because the Media Markt duration is now off, and Sony will release the whole thing. Anyway, we were very pleased and happy. With the right sound and TV, you will have the feeling of being in the middle in the audience. Is this the first 3D concert film to be made and released for Blu-ray? As far as I know. But we are mostly on the road, and I’m calling from India. That’s the reason why I’m a little bit slow with my thinking, because I’m still jetlagged. I think one of the first, let’s go for that. U2 released a 3D concert film several years ago, but it wasn’t released on home video because of the technology at the time. Yeah, the technology is now better. Now the technology is right. We were using the only cameras [that can achieve this] at this point. Was the band’s relationship with Sony instrumental in making this a reality? Of course. This is a priority with Sony, and it’s very good at this stage when you still have a powerful record company. Sony is all for helping us to lead this album Comeblack, which is the idea behind this. Because on these two years, being on the road in 2012, we have lots of young fans in front of the stage. We were wondering what’s happening, and we have over one million Facebook fans, which the majority, believe it or not, 80 percent is between 14 and 20 years old, so that gave us the idea to say, “Look, our back catalog is not treated well. Let’s give these people who are coming to our shows a new version of our classics with the new technology, more punch, more attitude, more kick-ass.” I know I’m a fan of analog, no question about this, because analog is for heart and soul. But the new way kids are listening to our music, they’re needing the punch, and 3D and digital is really the possibility…so in this case we had the idea to put all the classics on one album, but also put some of the covers from the bands who inspired us to play music. So we had 25 songs to find out which ones were best for [Scorpions vocalist] Klaus [Meine]’s voice. Sony is a great company, no question about it, and they’re everywhere in the world. We are a band [that] already in the beginning in our career, we played everywhere in the world. In Asia we played Bangkok, Thailand in 1982 for 12,000 people in two nights—there were no record companies like this. We played in Russia, big shows, and there was no record company involved. For us, it wasn’t important how much money we made; for us it was important how much adventure [there was] in the whole thing. So this gave us a chance to play Malaysia, in Philippines, in Thailand, in Korea and Russia and South America and everywhere. So in this case, our situation is when we release an album, it’s released everywhere and also we play nearly everywhere. When and where is the tour expected to end? I’ll tell you one thing: We know a lot of things about where we play in 2012. The only thing that we don’t know yet—we have a few options which I can’t tell you yet—but the options are looking like it will be the end of 2012 or January 2013. Where it will be, it will be announced in, I guess, one month. Are you going to return to the United States for one more jaunt? From our record company and also from our agency, the people badly want us back. The response of ours in 2012, I was surprised to listen to the news and read in the magazines how the American critics were talking about the Scorpions this time, it was unbelievable. They’re writing something like, “Why are the Scorpions still looking so great and our bands are looking terrible? Maybe they’ve taken too many drugs,” and all these kinds of things. I was laughing on the floor. But anyway, the convinced us to go back to the United States and Canada. On the other hand, they didn’t have to convince us so much; we always like to play America. And if you look back at our career, you can see that it’s the home country, the homeland of rock and roll. It’s really feeling like you are the cowboy going on the road, fantastic! In the tour bus, cruising the country and really enjoying the great scenery and the great atmosphere playing in the United States. Is there any chance that any former members of the Scorpions will perform with the group for these final shows? We did it already in Wacken [later released on the Live at Wacken Open Air 2006 DVD—Ed.]. My brother [Michael Schenker] was there, also Uli Jon Roth, also Herman Rarebell. I think anything is possible; you never know when somebody’s showing up. My brother came and played with us, Uli is the same thing. But I think for the last concert we’re doing something special, but first we have to find the place. We are very close to signing a contract, and then we start to work out the things like who can be a guest and what kind of picture we will paint. Career-wise, what do you want to do after the band is finished? My philosophy is live in the now, and don’t waste time by thinking yesterday and tomorrow. In this case, I’m really into it because I read the book The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. You have to read this book because it’s very interesting. I want to enjoy this career party, this whole thing, you know, with all the fans. Most of the places are sold out so far, and I want to make sure that I every second, every minute, I’m enjoying. That’s a very important part, and I think what comes next (laughs) when we finish this whole thing, I think there will be enough options to go for. In this case, there’s a lot of things to do, and I don’t want to think of tomorrow, I think today. Besides Germany, where would you most like to shoot another 3D film? I think the last concert will be 3D again, with all the guests and all the stars. It will be a big stadium, but I don’t know now where it will be. Half of the biggest markets for heavy metal are in Germany, even though metal itself is British. What do you attribute to this massive popularity, and why have your fellow countrymen been such huge supporters of metal in its 40-year history? I don’t know why Germany became—I know that Wacken, it’s very famous and it’s the biggest heavy metal festival all over the world. I don’t know how it comes. Maybe we put a lot of effort in because somehow our German schlager music, it’s so terrible, that people automatically—that’s the reason why I became a Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin fan, because I love very heavy stuff. So because our music here in Germany is so soft it’s terrible. In this case I maybe can see that that’s the reason why we have this market here, because those into heavy metal stuff don’t want to listen to German schlager music. In this case, if you hear the very soft side of one band, you have on the other side this strong thing, because the pendulum is going from one side to the other, and I think this could be the reason. And maybe we gave a lot of possibilities—we once opened many doors for German bands to go into the outside markets and come back. Also, there are lots of great bands coming from England and America, and they are always welcome in Germany. When people think of hard rock and metal from Germany, they think Scorpions. Thank you, Justin. Have a good one and see you when we’re in America in the summertime! Get Your Sting & Blackout Live in 3D is available now. If anybody hears of the new live in 3D thing coming out here in the USA on CD please be sure to post about it! It was originally released that way in Germany, but at 27 euros plus shipping (from Amazon.de) I'm not springing for that. I have no interest in the "3D" blu-ray (don't even have a player) and would much rather just have it on CD to listen to anyways.
P.S. I picked up Comeblack recently and love the redone Scorp tunes but hate the cover songs. Wish they just released more of their own re-recorded songs instead of including other covers.

Scorpions guitarist Matthias Jabs has confirmed the band have given up on their plan to split – although they probably won’t keep going the way they have in the past. He says they’ve been invited to play at the opening ceremony of football’s 2014 World Cup competition in Brazil. And he adds their next studio project is likely to include completed versions of songs they didn’t finish in the 1980s and 1990s. The German outfit announced their intention to break up after one last work tour in 2009. But as more and more dates were added they admitted they were reconsidering the decision. Now Jabs says that, like Judas Priest, they’re planning to keep going as a band, but won’t be touring the world any more. He tells AZCentral.com: “The Scorpions will not break up. We’re giving up the constant touring – into the studio, out of the studio, back on the road. “There’s a routine of making an album and touring the world for two and a half years. We said, ‘Can we go in the studio in 2013, Klaus will be 65, and then do another world tour?’ It might get shaky. “We have a project which we will probably release next year. We have so much film material. We will work on something like an anthology, some kind of box set.” Earlier this year the Scorpions recorded some new tracks for the project. Jabs says the work consisted of “resurrecting unfinished songs from what some people say was our best time – leftovers from Blackout, Love at First Sting, Crazy World and Savage Amusement. “There’s so much strong material. The vibe is great because it’s from the time when we were starting out. “Back then, when I found a new riff I would get excited. It’s slightly different today because I know it all, I’ve heard it all. It’s much harder to get excited about the simplest or sometimes half-genius riff. But there was a definite spark in those old recordings. The idea is to redo them with today’s technology and take it further.” While the band have nothing scheduled beyond tour’s end on December 15 in Germany, Jabs says: “Nobody has said we’ll never hit the stage again. We were approached to play for the opening of the World Cup in 2014. That is not confirmed – but those opportunities, we would not let slip away.”

Outtakes form Blackout, Love at First Sting, & Savage Amusement interest me. Never much liked Crazy World.
