For the life of me I can't figure out why this garbage is so popular among 20something hipsters and 40something child molestors. How a chain managed to take the terrifically tangy taste of tacos and turn it into terrible tasteless trash I'll never know, yet not only did they do it, they made it POPULAR.

Dunno about your neck of the woods, but near me Surf Taco is a very popular chain among 20 and 30somethings.

And it sucks.

Watered down salsa with no flavor, bland, flavorless taco meat with no zest or zing, crap nachos, lousy lousy lousy. Surf Taco makes Taco Bell taste like good Mexican.

And people love this stuff! They love it enough to plaster their damn cars with stickers and to hang out there and whatever.

I don't get it. It is suckage on a plate.

Based on a little web research, Surf Taco appears to be a Jersey only chain. Their menu sounds a bit like California Baja style with a more mild seasoning. I've found that after living in the South and the North at different periods in my life, that Mexican restaurant in the North tend to be more mild in flavor that the south or southwest. I personally don't really like the Baja style we ave here in California. Too much Cilantro and not enough spices. Give me good old fashion Tex Mex food any day. I can't wait to get back to Houston for the Holidays and have some good Tex Mex food while I'm there.

Yeah, for some reason I thought it was also on the West Coast, but after looking I realized the chain is only here at the Jersey Shore.

It stinks.

Our hole in the wall Mexican places are good, but there is not a single decent Mexican chain around here. I think you're right, Surf Taco is baja style. I'm on the same page as far as preferring Tex Mex.

I am amused at what passes for "hot" and "medium" up here in the north.
I don't need much heat myself, and prefer things more medium, but I find it
funny when someone around her bites into something mild, and goes,
"Ooooh, that's hot, isn't it?"

But I like cilantro.

Are Surf Tacos made with fish?

Their fish tacos are popular, so yes, some of them.

I've had their fish tacos, chicken teriyaki tacos, and the straight-up normal tacos, along with the trimmings.

This is a taco outrage. And a mockery.

I tried the taco truck at school today. Good, but expensive.

You should come down here. I could get you stuffed with dozens of tacos for a few of your american dollars.
