I'm almost finished watching a bunch of episodes of stuff, and about to start on something new. What should I choose? This is a nomination thread. I'll post a poll of the ones that seem most interesting.

You can suggest anything, but these are some of the shows I have in mind, and why:

Breaking Bad -- some say graet on ever
Mad Men -- looks really pleasing, I'm a fan of the era
Justified -- my friends say this is the best show on TV, and I like Elmore Leonard.
Hell on Wheels -- friend is trying to get me to catch up the first season before a new season starts. Says it's good.
Boardwalk Empire -- free for me on HBO, I like mob stuff. Could jump on board and watch new episodes this year.

Classic ones like The Wire are also possibilities. I tend to award extra credit for a show that's still ongoing, so I could "catch up" and enjoy new episodes as they come out.

I don't watch many shows, so I've seen almost nothing. Only obvious candidate that I've seen is Game of Thrones. Also, I bailed on Walking Dead. With Frank Durabont out, meh.

Breaking Bad gets my vote. Dark, funny, sad, scary

But then it is the only one I have seen.....

The Wire is definitely a good choice.

I will also suggest "Alias," a James Bond-like spy show, only James Bond is a hot chick, like Ash in the upcoming "Evil Dead" remake.

Hell on wheels is really good (i was surprised how fast it became must see tv for me)

Justified is pure class.

Suits is a lot of fun. Only 1 season so far Not as serious as what you list, but its about lawyers being more awesome than general folk, so it might be up your alley

Shield is a classic. One episode will tell you if it is your cup of tea.

Friday Night lights was awesome. Not sure if final season hit broadcast TV yet.

"Dead like me" was great.
I liked "Wonder Falls". It barely lasted a season, but it was great.
"Lie to me" was pretty fun.

For some reason I found "Mad Men" cold and devoid of any fun.

Breaking Bad, oh yes.

Battlestar Galactica, great season and awesome cliffhanger on the final episode

24, the formula got a bit stale after a while, but it was unlike anything I had seen in the 1st season

HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET

I watched the first episodes of Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire, The Wire, and Justified. None of them had me coming back for more. I'll probably force myself to watch Boardwalk and Wire until they take.

Mad Men I loved from the first episode.

"Veronica Mars" has a great first season.

Friday Night Lights will make a grown man cry. So good.

I've seen enough of Friday Night Lights. My wife loves it and I've sat in front of enough to get the gist of it.

I tend to dislike shows that are mostly "Look at all these good looking people, let's hop around and find out what's going on with each of them." Whereas, that's exactly my wife's favorite kind of show.

The Shield is the TV equivilant to a kick in the gut.

I assume you already have watched "House," but if not:

You should not assume. When I said "almost nothing," I meant almost nothing.

So the only exceptions would be girly-man shows like Friday Night Lights that my wife watches, and I've absorbed too much of. (One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, The O.C., 90210)
