Thanks for posting, Charles. Sounds like a two-song (Debbie Harry, Jackson Browne) download purchase for me, but I will look forward to those tracks.

Top paragraph.......

Quote:
Now the 99 percent can get fired up with 'Occupy This Album,' an environmentally-friendly digital release featuring musical heavyweights like Crosby and Nash, Devo, Lucinda Williams, Yo La Tengo, Toots and the Maytals and Third Eye Blind.

Mogwai, Yoko Ono, Patti Smith, Yo La Tengo, Thee Oh Sees, Ladytron on Occupy Wall Street Comp

The organization Music for Occupy will release a compilation of music inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement on May 15. (May 1 is the designated day of re-occupation worldwide.) The massive compilation, titled Occupy This Album, features Yoko Ono, Patti Smith, Yo La Tengo, New Party Systems (featuring members of TV on the Radio, Liturgy, and the Notekillers), Mogwai, Ladytron, Tom Morello, Debbie Harry, Thee Oh Sees, Amanda Palmer, UNKLE, Girls Against Boys, Willie Nelson, filmmaker Michael Moore (covering Bob Dylan), and more.

The CD edition collects 78 tracks across four discs, while a digital edition includes 100 songs. (99 songs plus one "hidden" track.) Many of the tracks are previously unreleased, including Mogwai's "Earth Division", which can be streamed above. All sales benefit Occupy Wall Street.

In a press release, Graham Nash offered a statement: "The ability for people to unite behind the idea that our very constitution is supposed to guarantee freedom of speech is a wonderful sight to behold. We have to take our country back from the corporate state."

A release party will take place at the the City Winery in New York City on May 8 with performances and collaborations from artists featured on the comp. Tickets to the release event include a copy of the album as well as a, uh, bottle of "Occupy This Wine" red wine.

I hope there's a way to get the Browne & C/N separately. That's all I need here.

This is the kind of thing that I used to buy for a track or two and ultimately the whole thing would just collect dust. Add to that the fact that this is another crappy quality download thing and I'll pass.
