Chisto Disk Analoguer is a spray treatment for optical disks -- CDs, DVDs, BluRay, etc. The claim is that it improves the readability (my words) of the disks, which affects performance -- better sound, better picture; in the case of audio disks, a more analog sound.

So, curious sucker that I am, I bought some to try it out. I found a couple pairs of identical CDs in my collection to test it on. In both cases, the treated disk sounds different -- smoother, what I would call a more rounded sound, with less of an edge. More analog, I think. Not like vinyl, but closer.

I did a blind test for my wife, and she quickly identified the difference, and in both cases identified the treated disk. She ultimately decided she liked the untreated disks better, because she thought she heard more detail, but her description of the treated disks was the same as mine, without prompting.

I don't know what this product does exactly, or how it affects playback, but I hear a difference. I know some of you are going to tell me it's in my head, and I know the arguments for that, and they make sense to me. But I'm pretty confident about what I hear. It's not a huge night-and-day difference, but with careful listening, it's not hard to hear, either. My wife heard it right away, and she's no audiophile.

I thought some of you might be interested to hear about my experience with this product. I'm not affliated in any way with the company that makes and sells this.

It does sound a little "green marker" to me, but I'd be curious to hear other people's thoughts and experiences.

Yeah, like "sound rings" and I remember using a spray back in the early 90's as well.

I also heard a difference back in the day with the audioprism green pen. it isn't a joke for those with good enough systems to hear the difference. I stopped using it to due to reducing the collectable value of cd's, but the sonic difference is definitely there. A local dealer also has a mega bucks machine that adds a black edge & I have heard it make heavily compressed discs from my collection almost listenable (i.e. big improvement). I can't remember the name of the co that made the machine, & there's no way I could afford it.
