Thanks for posting, Jimbo. I always get a kick out of seeing just how far behind the times I am based on the annual VV list. I doubt that, going back to the '70s, I have ever owned anything approaching douible digits here, and I'm proud to say 2011 is no different — I own four. I have never even heard of, much less heard, exactly half of this year's 50.

The tUnE-yArDs album ranked high for me as well. Merrill Garbus (tUnE-yArDs) also contributed/co-produced Thao & Mirah's s/t debut last year- another great indie album worth hunting down.

Must confess that not only have I never heard of this group, my knee-jerk reaction is to dismiss them just based on the silly use of upper/lowercase. But since some of you guys seem to like them, I'll try to check them out when I have a chance.
