Help Meeeeee!!!!! (puff, puff) Ok. OK. This is the problem - I will try to lay it out rationally and without RANTING TOO MUCH Phone: HTC Desire Problem: Browser keeps shutting down when trying to access some web pages, e.g. Google. How it started: reading some positive comments about it in the Android thread, I installed Dolphin as a browser last night. Then as I was playing with it today (trying, I think, to install an add on, but don't remember what) it closed down. Thinking nothing of it, I then opened the stock phone browser (which had Facebook as its homepage) no problem, but then when I tried to open Google on it, it too closed down. Frustrated, I thought there must be a clash between Dolphin and the browser so uninstalled Dolphin and cleared the cache and re-set the stock browser. It now will not open at all, since it tries to open Google each time, nearly gets there (address bar nearly full) then closes. Each time. So now no internet access at all. Using my computer, I was able to install Opera mini on the phone and this runs no problem at the moment. Hm. thinking there might be a problem only with Dolphin HD, I installled Dolphin mini. This will go to some pages - facebook, my school website - but not Google (closes it down) youtube (closes it down) nor even imwan! My BBC iplayer app, too - installed an hour ago because Opera won't play iplayer programmes - closes the window when I try to watch a programme, although the app itself stays open. Is it a virus? My avg virus thing says no, but it is a free one so who knows? Did I perhaps change something in my settings when I got rid of some of the apps? Any advice much appreciated, although as I type this I am beginning to think I need to take it to a virus killing shop or something...

Any way to back it up and reinstall the OS? Sounds like a bug is corrupting things.

Have you got a bunch of photos to get off of it? Songs that exist only on the device?
A hard reset will probably do the trick -- takes it back to factory condition, and hopefully add your apps back one at a time.
Will it allow you to uninstall the stock browser? You could try reinstalling it.

What would I need to back up other than the apps Steve? The SD card won't be affected will it? And is there a simple system restore in settings?

Started using Dolphin for iPad today. Like it a lot so far. Nice interface, dig the swipable bookmarks sidebar.

I liked it because it had tabs before Safari and the gestures/bookmarks, but it's too isolated. It can sync with its iPhone counterpart but that's it.

Jeff wrote: What did you have to do? Boringly enough, the total reboot. None of the fun rituals suggested by my heritage and accent still it worked a treat. I'm trying out dolphin but I dunno. So far I think I like opera better, and the stock browser better still. Familiarity, maybe.

The times I tried Opera, I uninstalled it fairly quickly. At first, it didn't have pinch/zoom, which was just mind boggling. Later, once they had that, I don't remember what the problems were, but it just seemed lacking in some way.
