...but did you know that the original theme is from the Polovtsian Dance No. 2 by Borodin? So many of the melodies of well-known popular songs were actually written by the great masters.

There was this other piece of music which I have heard in trailers and a couple of movies, but I didn't know the name. Since I couldn't write down a melody, I did a Google search for "solo cello music YouTube" and hoped that I would get lucky. I did. The music I was thinking of was Johann Sebastian Bach's "Suite for Solo Cello No. 1 in G Major: I. Prelude"

I heard this music as the background for the web site to the Magritte Museum in Belgium, and I thought the music was specifically written for Magritte's works. I was wrong. When I heard it again in the documentary "Man On Wire", I looked carefully in the credits to see what it was. It's "Gymnopédia #1" by Erik Satie.

Oh, I remembered that commercial from Jimbo's title alone! Did the compilation include this?

Recognise the melody?

Yes, I did. I have since collected many of these pieces just from my memory of the commercial. I used to just like saying "Polovtsian Dance Number Two by Borodin."

That commercial featured 2 different hosts IIRC.
Can anybody name them for me?
(I can't, and if they are in the videos, I can't receive them on this toughbook)

I know it's not him, but the guy in the video posted here reminds me of The Major from Fawlty Towers.

"Classics Fawlty! Some of the best music in the world...and it's available on 8-track!"
