Here's what I'm currently working on: Ultimate Wolverine. This is the private commission I mentioned a while ago. I did one already but I wasnt happy with how it turned out so I started again. Much happier with this one. I did have a bit of an accident with the over, hence the dark brown color. All's well tho.

I just finished an Eaglemoss scale Rocket Raccon. I'll post a pic in the simply tomorrow so as not to hijack your thread.

Have you thought of using some other polymer clays so you don't have to bake the sculpts? I abandoned sculpy because I kept burning them. As the sculpts get bigger it's tougher to bake them through completely without burning the outer most pieces.

I've read a little bit on other clays, and I use a 2 part epoxy for some things, but I haven't seriously looked into anything else. Any suggestions?

I use a plumbers putty from Lowe's which really does well for me. Folks swear by the stuff above, I've never used it, but the results are impressive.

I have worked with kneadatite, which is awesome but expensive, especially for large scale stuff like you do.

I'll check those out. I also wanted to look at some Aves clay. It air drys and you can work it with water.

I started to finish the arms and attached the hands when I noticed they were a bit long from elbow to wrist. Looked a bit odd. So I had to remove the hands and shorten up the arms. Well I shattered one of the hands... Good thing is I'm not as bothered by it as I would have been 6 months ago. I can sculpt a new hand in about 45 minutes so no worries. That's a fist BTW, open hands still elude me.

I'm also thinking of doing something very different: a dragon. Just need to think up a cool design.

That is really great. I love the musculature on the torso.

I found a site that recommends baking the interior armature before adding the details. Might be an option to avoid burning.

Thanks Tuna and Judge. I do sometime bake before detail, locks in the sculpt and makes handling it easier too, but so far I haven't had to worry about that much. This one burned cause I wasn't paying attention and set the oven too high. Normal temp is about 225 - 250. I set it to 350. Just a total brain fart.

Are you using a dedicated oven? I have a toaster oven that is used only for polymer clay.

Nah, just the house oven. Been thinking about getting something small that I can have downstairs where I sculpt tho.

Be sure to ventilate it to the outside. Those fumes are kind of nasty.

I am using an older, largish, toaster oven. You should be able to find one at a yard sale or thrift store.

I was actually thinking of doing the same thing thing for a while now. I'm not much on the pre planning, I'll likely build an armature and work from there.

Thats pretty much how I am right now. When I start a Superhero Mini bust, I just make the armature and figure out a pose and go. With the dragon however I want I just want a cool pic to guide me a bit.

A cool picture of a dragon will be pretty tough to locate.... Pretty tough..
