Just listened to Yesshows last night. Not a huge fan of live albums, but if it's "expanded" enough I might bite.

Naturally, I just spent $50 on a used copy of this CD once I saw that it was out of print. I should've known better. A re-release was inevitable.

I wonder if the 2nd disc will be a DVD?

No way sadly-no real usable footage from that era and Friday Music don't do that kind of thing. I am very pleased to see this come out though as I only had the cassette. Maybe they were inspired by our Yes albums thread!

I'm guessing this will be similar to the expanded remastered versions that came out in Japan within the last 2 years. CDJapan shows there was a remastered version, and an SHM mini-LP remastered version. Both had the same 2 bonus tracks of "I've Seen All Good People" and "Roundabout" which according to Wiki came from 1978 shows, and were previously released on the Classic Yes comp.

Also shown on the Friday Music facebook page is a re-issue of Yes 9012Live The Solos, expanded and remastered, which also appears similar to the Japan SHM version that came out within the last 2 years (which I just shelled out $32 for last month, ugh).

Fingers crossed that Friday Music also does a domestic version of the similarly expanded Big Generator...

I bought the Japanese SHM remastered expanded versions for myself when I offered members the "Japan cds at cost" a while back. It's too bad more people didn't take advantage at the time, 9012Live was only $20. Blame the gov't for the lousy exchange rate.

It's no Yessongs, but it's pretty good.

This is due on Nov. 22 from Friday Music and as we figured the bonus tracks are "I've Seen All Good People" and "Roundabout" from Classic Yes. The edit of "Ritual" has also been eliminated. Having never owned this on CD, this is a definite purchase for me.

Out next week...

Yesshows/Expanded CD (Original Recording Remastered)

YES has always been known for their elaborately staged concerts over the decades, filling arenas with mesmerized fans across the globe. In celebration of their much emulated brand of progressive rock music, Chris Squire of YES culled together some of their finest performances over the past number of stadium tours from 1976-78. The brilliant album would be called YESSHOWS, and it featured the classic line-up of Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Rick Wakeman, Steve Howe and Alan White as well as Patrick Moraz.

Splendid live renditions from past triumphs like Tales From Topographic Oceans (Friday Music 2908), Relayer (Friday Music 18122) and Time And A Word (Friday Music 8273) were featured fare on the four blazing sides of this long out of print two LP set. Incredible workouts on Wonderous Stories, Don’t Kill The Whale, Time And A Word, and the epic The Gates Of Delirium made this live document a much time honored masterpiece.

This amazing release has been out of print for several years, that is until now…. Friday Music is very pleased to offer the incredible YESSHOWS/EXPANDED now on an impeccable remastered two cd set, featuring the full length smash bonus live tracks of their earliest hits I’ve Seen All Good People (a.Your Move b. All Good People) and the album finale Roundabout. Also for this special release, the complete unedited half hour version of Ritual is now one complete track!

Mastered from the original Atlantic Records tapes by Yes fan and expert Joe Reagoso (Yes/Deep Purple/Alice Cooper), this amazing disc is also enhanced by the original album artwork elements by the legendary Roger Dean. Truly a remarkable masterpiece in sound and vision.

YES…YESSHOWS/ EXPANDED and Remastered……exclusively from your friends at Friday Music

I'll have to wait for reports first. I've been burned too many times on Joe Reagoso mastering jobs.

Weird EQ, bad sounding compression and too much stereo widening.

Remember copying a comic strip with Silly Putty and then stretching it out to several times its normal length? That's what several of Joe Reagoso's masterings sound like. Also, several of them have very harsh top end, boomy bottom end and the tape machine playback alignments are often poorly done resulting in one of the channels being more muffled than that other and phase issues.

He's not a mastering engineer. He's a promotion guy. That's like an A&R guy at MCA announcing he's a mastering engineer and people giving him work.

If the reality wasn't so pathetic, your description would be hilarious! (well it still is)

"Ritual" was restored to one track on the previous remaster.
