I considered picking up Pink Floyd's "A Foot in the Door" today. I suspected there might be some different edits or crossfades that might make for an interesting listen. Just saw online that there ARE some different edits. Anyone here able to shed any light or offer any opinions?

The reviews have not been good, unless you don't have any Pink Floyd CDs I would not recommend it.
There are far better compilations out there of Pink Floyd.

Some of the crossfades work, some definitely don't. If it wasn't for $10.00 I might more upset about the collection. I can't really recommend this.

I also picked up up just for the car at $10. It would never be essential listening for me.

No, I know what you mean about it not being "essential listening". It's not something I would really want, having all the albums anyway. But as with some of the other Floyd "Best of's" it may be "essential" for one reason or another for the completist who must have every different edit or mix there is out there. I think I read somewhere that the edit of "Shine On" is the same edit as on the Echos compilation. Not sure if it's true, or about the other tracks.

I'm not impressed with this release at all, especially for something that's supposed to be an introduction for newcomers. Way too many songs that have already been overplayed on classic rock radio, including huge chunks of Dark Side of the Moon (the one album even casual listeners would probably already have) with several albums completely ignored.

Shockingly it has The Fletcher Memorial Home.

I think it hits just about everything a single disc comp would and should though some of really long songs don't need to be included.
