I will be picking up the following...

ASTRO CITY THE DARK AGE BOOK TWO #2 -- Yippee!

MIDNIGHTER #4 -- I'll stick with this though issue 7 (by BKV), then we'll see...

SHAZAM THE MONSTER SOCIETY OF EVIL #1 (OF 4) -- May decide to wait for the trade on this...

FANTASTIC FOUR THE END #5 (OF 6) -- Alan Davis goodness.

NEW AVENGERS #27 -- Not sure why I keep buying this book.

NEWUNIVERSAL #3 -- I'm really digging this so far.

UNCANNY X-MEN #483 -- Is Bru gone when this arc is done? I can't see me sticking around much longer. The storyline is okay... great ambition, but falling a bit short in execution for me.

Should be getting these at lunch today(according to Diamond):

All New Atom #8 - Not a bad little story so far, we'll see what the next story is.

Dark Tower: A Gunslinger Born #1 - I loved the books by King, if this keeps on schedule I won't be waiting for the trade on this one.

Fantastic Four: The End #5 - Alan Davis, 'nuff said!

Jonah Hex #16 - I love this book.

Mystery in Space #6 - This is a good book, especially The Weird by Starlin & Milgrom.

Red Sonja #19 - One of my monthy "must reads".

New Avengers 27: I really dig the new team/direction and Yu's art is BRILLIANT..we get lots of story and lots of action in one issue..very cool...the scene where the team came to the rescue made me smile...all around a fun densely packed story that sets up even more cool stuff...(mind you Spidey seems pretty glib considering this takes place after Civil War..i wonder if the black suit is misdirection)...9/10

Action Annual 10: Lots of cool little vignettes..a sort of preview issue for future storylines (Johns excels at these types of stories)..with sweet art by Kubert, Art Adams, and more...fun stuff...7/10

Fell 7: another gritty crime tale with an unexpected ending..man you can feel the frustration in that last panel..excellent crime comic...10/10

New Universal 3: More sci fi goodness from Ellis..i like the lost civilation subplot and the surprise about the girl from the lab..Larocca's art is gorgeous as well..one of my new favorite titles...10/10

Uncanny Xmen 483: fun fast paced issue..but i dont buy Vulcan's change of heart..it just doesent make sense to me..either way Brubaker really captures my favorite Xmen vibe (the old Claremont/JRJR era)..so ill stick around for a while..7/10

Punisher 44: consistently excellent..we meet and learn more about the players and see Frank dispense some brutal justice against some child pornographers...my favorite book month in month out..10/10

Rob Hearn - yep Bru is onboard Xmen for another year at least...from what i hear he plans on brigning back a major X-villain when they come back from space..should be fun (and yes i agree Xmen is his worst fit as a writer..but im still digging it).

Yeah. Y'know, I like what he's TRYING to do, but something just feels off. Maybe it's on the art side. Is he doing this book Marvel method with plots provided or a tight script? I wonder. Doesn't seem tight to me. His other books are precision.

Any guesses on the major X-villain? If its Apococrap or Mister Smister, there's a 95% chance I'm outta there. The X-books were never the same to me after these guys were introduced.

Here's a question for everyone... whatever happened to Nimrod (the ultimate Sentinel)? Was he eventually destroyed? That guy, aside from being pink, was badass.

Rob - I think Bru is bringing back Magneto..i think..

And im also a huge Nimrod fan...from what I remember he merged with a sentinel and was sent into the Siege Perilious (the crystal/dimension that has people changed and reborn)...so he does not exist in that form anymore...maybe he came back in the 90s X-books but i stopped reading the X titles after Claremont and Jim Lee left.

I think Bru is better suited for street level/espionage characters like DD, Cap, Batman, etc...Xmen isnt as good a fit..still fun though just not amazing like his other titles.

This is hilarious -- I cut and paste from your post because I was busy at work, and you bought 3 of the 5 books I bought. Then someone distracted me and I didn't even notice that I left the text after the issues.

I will adopt your comment as to Astro City and NewUniversal. As to the New Avengers, this is the first issue I ever bought. I actually kind of liked it.

Fantastic Four: The End 5-

Astonishing Ant-Man 5-

Midnighter 4-

Incredible Hulk 103-

I haven't read any of them yet. But Chrise Sprouse isn't drawing Midnighter in this issue- if he's gone for good I may not continue this.

I did flip through New Avengers 27, and I have to say that it had more action in it than I've seen in a New Avengers. One interesting item:
Spoiler: show
the new Ronin has already taken over the man-suit.

Crap! I hope that's temporary. His art was keeping me on the book.

I got:
Fell #7 -- this is probably my favorite issue so far.
Midnighter #4 - Haven't read this yet, but WHAT?!? No Chris Sprouse? You almost can't tell, either...
New Universal #3 -- Haven't read this yet.
Fantastic Four: The End #5 -- the most gorgeous art in mainstream comics. The writing's not half bad either. Everybody seems in character.
Uncanny X-Men #483 -- not really enjoying this, but love the character of Darwin. Disappointing so far, but then, I haven't read this book for 20 years either.

Will be getting: Leading Man #5 -- liking this so far.
More to come.

Darwin is worth the price of admission. Love that character. He needs a mini.

I don't like how he's just been killing characters off willy-nilly. There's really no reason for him to. Like why have Vulcan kill off the Imperial Guard. Is it really necessary? It's not meaningful, it's pointless and done matter-of-factly.

I just have a soft spot for them- X-men 107-8 and 137 were great.

Hugh, the last Action was #845 (with Bizarro on the cover). It came out November 29th.

#845 is scheduled to come out this month. I've dropped the book. If it gets rave reviews, I'll pick up the trade.

I agree. Can't anyone in comics defeat their opponent without pulling off limbs or executing them in cold blood anymore? I'm sure what the point was in coldly executing the IG. Sure, Vulcan is powerful, but we already knew that.
