It's a 2D barcode that encodes text into a image that can be read by a barcode reader and decoded back into the original text. It's mostly used by companies to encode website URLs in advertising, but they can be used to encode up to 4296 alphanumeric characters. Here's one I created that is the Ezekiel 25:17 speech from Pulp Fiction.
