Just saw this movie tonight. Corny, predictable and sometimes out there but the most FUN I've had in a movie in a LOOOOOOONG time. The audience was cheering and this time, it was ok :)

If you have kids, take them to see it, you'll have a blast

Has more heart than a hundred modern comics.

Here's my post from three weeks ago about it (opening night).

Quote:
I saw it tonight with the little man. I loved it. Maybe I was just in the mood for it, but it was the best boxing movie I've seen since Rocky.

A good father-son movie -- sort of a movie with a kid's heart, with cool eye candy to boot.

Agree with every word you wrote bro. And, as I've never watched Lost, this was my first exposure to Evangeline Lily and man she was good. Now I see why people thought she'd make a great Lois Lane.

Kinda wish they'd given her a little more to do, such as a motivation when Hugh Jackman's character wasn't around. But I liked her and thought her acting was 1000% times better than January Jones in X-Men First Class.

Feel good comics with heart, huh? Before I start listing, do they have to be recent?

Amen. She did a lot with a little.

Well I did say modern comics didn't I? But go ahead.

I don't know of any comics with that kind of heart. Writers today just don't seem to do that.

Classic Sgt. Rock is what it reminds me of. I pulled some of those out and read them with my son since the movie.

I like how this deftly and surreptitiously turned into a "Modern Comics are shit" thread.

The stink of that shitness pervades everything on the internet.

I don't have kids, so I have no excuse to see this movie. In fact, I haven't actually been to the cinema since 2006, but I'll see this on DVD when it comes out.

Mental mind-beam across the globe: you will like it.

(And by the way, it's not really a "kids movie." They're sort of emphasizing that in the marketing because they realize what they've got, but it actually holds up well just as a boxing movie.)

Ah, well - it has robots in it, and it looks like fun. I'm pretty sure you're right, and I will like it a lot.

It's not just a kids movie, it's really a lot of fun.

So it's more than a "Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots" movie?

How could it be more than that? That's like the top thing there is.

I'm going to purchase the blu-ray.

This year it was Thor, Stand by Me (25th Anniversary), True Grit, Captain America, and Enter the Dragon. Before the year is over, I will purchase Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

So Real Steel will make into small company.

I still haven't seen the apes movie, or Thor. I'll have to watch those.
