Looking forward to it, and seeing the old gang again. Anyone else?

Product Description
Harking back to the era when NEW TEEN TITANS was the best-selling monthly comic series comes this lost tale from legendary creators Marv Wolfman (CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS) and George Perez (FINAL CRISIS: LEGION OF THREE WORLDS) starring their fan-favorite characters just in time for the NEW TEEN TITANS 30th anniversary! Set in the 1980s during the height of New Teen Titans popularity, this standalone hardcover features a mysterious villain playing a deadly game with New York City as the gameboard - and the Teen Titans as the pieces! Like something out of a timecapsule, this never-before-seen epic is the New Teen Titans story from their original creators that never got told...until now! Twenty years in the making, TEEN TITANS: GAMES is a can't-miss for fans new and old.

Four reasons why I will pass on this:

1. Danny Chase
2. Troia
3. White Raven
4. Jericho

I do love my new New Teen Titans Omnibus though.

I got it and enjoyed it for the most part but it does feel a little disjointed - you can tell half of it was done years ago and the other half now.

Yeah but to see Perez back on a Titans story will be fun, I'm looking forward to my copy's arrival.

I'm not the biggest Danny Chase fan, but he has a great adventure in this book. So haters stop hatin'

I enjoyed the story a lot, despite any shifts in style due to the time lag. And considering the story isn't in continuity, they went BIG. This is THE last story of the New Teen Titans we loved that we will ever see and I thought it was great.

I'll probably wait for the paperback.

I know there's another thread about this, with some more recent posts, but I couldn't find it using the search function, so I'll post my thoughts about Games here.

I read it last night. It's okay. In terms of pacing, it seems slow in the beginning, where they're setting the stage for the main conflict. I think it lacks the spark of Wolfman/Perez at their peak in the mid-eighties. I didn't expect this to match that, but I expected something a little more engaging.

I wonder if part of this is because Wolfman conceived the storyline during his creative block in the late '80s and then had to retrofit his plot years later to match Perez's already drawn pages -- this is delved into in more detail in a text piece that analyzes the plot inside the book.

One thing I will say, however, is that I like the anachronisms in the book. The Titans are drawn as though they are still in the '80s, but there are references to the internet, etc. The Tim Drake Robin is seen wearing the original Robin costume, as well. I think it's cool that they didn't worry about fitting this into any Titans continuity past or present and just focused on telling a story.

Unfortunately, Wolfman and Perez didn't quite recapture the magic of years past, though I don't think this is a bad book per se.

I still haven't seen a copy in person. Can you describe the trade dress? Is in what I like to call "black tie," similar to the Steve Ditko Omnibus? The ones with a color printed cover under the dust jacket?

No. The hardcover is black and has the embossed New Teen Titans logo on the front - same dress as the Geoff Johns Flash Omnibus cover.

The book jacket has is a team shot running from the Tower on a white field. The spine is blue with yellow text and Raven at the top.

The interior pages are Archive quality, not the newsprint of the Ditko and Kirby Omnibuses. The interior format is like that of the DC Archives.

The overall size is about an inch taller than the DC Archives and about a half inch wider. For me, the perfect reading size.

680 pages.

I'm prolly going to get it. Seems like it will take about three volumes of this size to get all the way through Judas Contract.
