I hate to be "that guy" (okay, I actually love being "that guy"), but am I really supposed to believe Krypto was blown into space by the explosion of Krypton and then purely by happenstance landed on Earth? That's just bad writing.

No, he was in a space capsule drifting through space when Krypton exploded. Jor El used the family dog to test the prototype rocket that sent Kal El to Earth, but things went wrong and Krypto didn't make it back to Krypton.

That diagram clearly says that Krypto's capsule was in orbit around Krypton when the planet blew up and that it drifted to Earth.
