This one is HIGHLY recommended for fans of progressive metal. Arch's voice is an acquired taste. But for fans of his voice it's in top shape here and the vocal melodies are as great as they were on the early Fates Warning releases. Matheo's songwritings and riffs are complex and memorable. Great release, will be on my short list for best album of the year.

This has been on my "maybe" list for a while. I love Fates Warning, but you just never know about side projects. I'll elevate this to "probably" based on your recommendation, although I'll need to hear some clips and find a decent price before buying it.

Never could get into Arch's vocals. I'd rather hear more OSI or maybe some new Fates - it's only been 7 years now!

This is, in essence, the new Fates Warning album. Jim Matheos wrote it with the intention of being the next Fates Warning album, but Ray Alder could not do it due to work commitments. So Jim contacted John Arch to sing on it and John then wrote the lyrics and vocal melodies. Fates Warning members Joey Vera and Bobby Jarzombek play the bass and the drums. They even recruited old Fates Warning guitarist Frank Aresti to play roughly half of the guitar solos.

Jim has stated that he still intends on recording under the Fates Warning name when Ray is available to do it.

Well, to be honest, the stuff Ray's been doing with Redemption has been more interesting (to me) than the last couple of Fates CDs. I do like the OSI stuff too though. Maybe the time apart will help.
