The tracklist is up now. Some interesting choices, not the least of which is Aretha Franklin's studio recording of Bridge Over Troubled Water.

I just ordered it. I imagine there's a whole sub-category of Paul Simon Greatest Hits and Live album collectors. I've got 'em all and come to expect one or the other (or both) after each new studio album.

Per Second Disc, Sound of Silence on disc 1 is the only thing previously unreleased. I'll be giving this one a pass.

I love and respect Paul Simon, but...talk about someone whose work has been compiled to death...I'll also take a pass.

Having just wrapped up my reappraisal of Paul Simon's catalog last week, I was curious to find out what songs he would choose for this compilation. I was pleased to find some lesser-known songs like "Train In The Distance," "Rene And Georgette Magritte...," "Quality," "Darling Lorraine" and "Father And Daughter." It isn't a comprehensive compilation, and certainly not the best place to turn for a novice, which makes me wonder who this will appeal to (other than Simon fanatics who have to own everything with his name on it).

What's hilarious, is of the munerous comps, there STILL isn't one that has gotten it right in terms of all the hits. The Essential Paul Simon comes closest, but for God's sake, what does itt ake for them to actually get it right???
I realize this was compiled by Simon so I expected this one to be like this, and it is OK, but hits like "Allergies" and "One TRick Pony" never appear and it is beyond annoying.

Allergies was a hit? It would be nice to see

A) a comp that included "Proof" from The Rhythm of the Saints instead Further to Fly or ugh Spirit Voices again.
B) a comp with a solid round up of Capeman songs
C) a comp that included ONLY the title track from You're the One

Nice to see the only 3 essential tracks from Hearts and Bones included though.

Yeah, "Allergies" got to #44 on the singles charts in 1983 and spent 10 weeks on the chart. Funny, as "Graceland", a better and far better-known song crawled to #81. Go figure. Anyway, it should be on one of these comps! "Proof" should also be there, and I agree on You're The One-the title track is great, not much else.
As for Capeman-the less the better.

I'd love for someone to release a compilation of Paul Simon compositions recorded by other aritsts....

This was a good buy for 2 CD set with a very nice booklet for less than $14.00. By the way, Vic A. did the comp remastering.

Well I can see that if someone doesn't like the two distinct styles of music that make the album, but it has a few very good tracks.
