Graham Nash Working on Stephen Stills Box Set
By Gregory AdamsFollowing box sets on himself and Crosby, Stills and Nash member David Crosby, folkie Graham Nash has set sights on his next curatorial project: a box set on, naturally, Stephen Stills. Nash has revealed that he's currently overseeing a project chronicling Stills's work with Buffalo Springfield and CSN, as well as his solo work.

Speaking with Rolling Stone, Nash explained that being slightly removed from his pal's body of work makes him the ideal candidate to put the collection together. Even better, he says, than Stills himself.

"In a way, Stephen is the wrong person to ask about Stephen," Nash said. "I'm lucky that I'm outside of Stephen so that I can look at his music and his trajectory as an artist more than he can."

The musician is currently sifting through more than 40 years' worth of tunes, from the big hits to oddities and rarities. It's a laborious process that Nash is taking seriously.

"I've got a list of every single thing that Stephen ever recorded and there's some wild stuff in there," he explained. "You've got to listen to it all because you can't in a year after the album comes out go, 'Shit, look what we missed -- Stephen and Hendrix.' You have to listen to it all and then you go, 'Okay, what are the important milestones in Stephen's career? What should we start it with? What's the last thing that he recorded so what's gonna finish it?' And then we start fleshing it out in between."

While there is no firm date for the box set at present, Stills apparently hopes it's quite soon. Nash does, however, point out that it took him a year and a half to compile his own box set, 2009's Reflections, and it took two years to ready Crosby's 2006 compendium, Voyages.

"Stephen would like it out tomorrow and his manager would like it out yesterday, but we have to take our time because this is a piece of history," Nash said. "And I want to look at Stephen's trajectory as a writer and a musician and a craftsman."

No doubt, more info will pop up in the near future.

I hope this will be the same packaging as the Crosby and Nash sets, they will look great all lined up on the shelf. Other than that frivolous request this has got some potential cause there's alot of stuff out there.

My memory sucks, but i THINK that's the exact same wording that was released about a year ago.

This is one of those $99 box sets I WILL get.

no way it will be that high. i expect it be just like the crosby and nash sets, most likely the same style and size, 3 - 4 discs (C&N both had 3), less than $50.

i wouldn't expect any of the hendrix material though, from what i've read "experience hendrix" lets nothing go without big bucks.

I'm sure I would buy this also. I hope to heck Nash includes one of the live versions of Tree Top Flyer.
