Judas Priest took a novel approach in deciding which songs to include on their forthcoming compilation album, The Chosen Few. Rather than select the tracks themselves, the band solicited some of hard rock and heavy metal’s biggest names and had them choose their favorite Priest songs.

“This is a collection of songs chosen by our friends and respected peers," Priest frontman Rob Halford said, in an interview with Rolling Stone. "We hope all the metal maniacs out there will rock out to the tunes enjoyed by metal legends."

Among those who participated in the song-selection were Steve Vai, Ozzy Osbourne, Zakk Wylde, Joe Satriani and Slash. The set includes commentary from each artist about the reasons for their choice. The Chosen Few will be released on October 11 on Sony/Legacy. The following day (Oct. 12), Judas Priest kicksoff the North American leg of their farewell Epitaph tour.

Does JP have a new album coming out, or is the Farewell Tour just that with no new material???

The band has stated that they're working on new material, but we aren't likely to see a new album before 2012.

Mark:
No problem-just directing you to the update. I'm hoping to see the tour but I'll have to drive 90 minutes and I'm not sure I want to do that.
They will still tour in the future but no more long tours.
This comp is interesting and both this and the new UK comp are actually worthy. If I had to pick just one Priest cut that is my favorite it would be "Heading Out To The Highway" and it's sadly absent!

My favorite Priest cut will always be "The Hellion/Electric Eye".

I wonder if this set will have new mastering and not use Jon Astley's from the remasters?

Why anybody in their right mind would pick "Turbo Lover" is beyond me.

The beginning of Priest's decline.
