Ugh.

Side note: It must've been tough for Jeffrey Katzenberg's son to break into the business.

I come on now, where would Western Civilization be without nepotism? Probably a lot better off actually.

Is Michael Keaton too old for the part? Maybe they can get Johnny Depp to step in.

Is it bad to hope that this doesn't get made?

As long as they don't remake The Three Amigos - with Nick Swardson, Jack Black and Adam Sandler - I think we can all rest easy.

I think he could still do it. He was made up to look sort of undead in the first one.

I loved Beetlejuice. But at the time, I was crushing hard on Winona Ryder. I used to go see every move she was in.

What the heck happened to Michael Keaton's career anyway? Jeez he fell hard and fast from being an A list star to virtually a nobody.

Beetlejuice is one of those movies I'll stop and watch anytime I stumble upon it while channel-surfing. I'll go see a sequel or reboot if it gets made.

I have a suspicion on that topic.

He played the hard prima donna to get out of playing Batman in Batman Forever, because he didn't want to do it without Burton. I sort of suspect word got around concerning that situation, which might have dissuaded people from hiring him. That may not be it at all, but it certainly seems to fit.

I don't think he ever had star chops. The part that doesn't fit in the equation is getting cast as Batman.

Otherwise, he had about the career I would expect.

He had a pretty good arc from Mr Mom to Beetlejuice to Batman! but then he made a few stinkers and of course didn't continue to be Batman (a nice easy payday) and that was that.

I did like some of his smaller movies like Night Shift (1982)/ Johnny Dangerously (1984).....which gets quotes often even these days "Its over Johnny!"/ and Pacific Heights (1990).....which is a must see for peoplewho think renting their house is a good thing.

I liked him as Batman and the franchise was hurt by the constant changing of Batman ever since.

I agree. The only thing he ever really had going for him was some slight favoritism from Tim Burton, who seemed to lose interest in him pretty quickly once he discovered Johnny Depp.

I think that he was also an actor that wasn't obsessed with getting to the next level. I remember a lot of interviews where he wanted to talk about his horse business and his other interests.

Tim Burton may commit to 'Beetlejuice' sequel

Tim Burton is on the verge of getting on board with a sequel to Beetlejuice, he has revealed.

Writer/producer duo David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith are working on a sequel to his 1988 horror comedy, to which the director has already given his blessing.

But now, talking to MTV News he has said that he is seriously considering getting on board in a creative capacity. He said: "Yes, I love that character, and [Michael Keaton] is so great in it."

Burton continued: "I always think about how great and fun that character was, so I just said to Seth, 'If you have some idea about it, go for it, and then I'll look at it freshly.' In the past, I tried some things, but that was way back when. He seemed really excited about it."

Beetlejuice saw a pair of recently deceased ghosts contract the services of a 'bio-exorcist' in order to remove the obnoxious new owners of their house.

The director is currently working on two projects, Dark Shadows and Frankenweenie.
