Product Description
Tori Amos marks her debut album for Deutsche Grammophon, the world's most celebrated classical music record label with Night of Hunters, set for release this September. The iconic, platinum-selling singer-songwriter continues her legacy of ground-breaking recordings with this 21st century song cycle inspired by select classical pieces spanning the last 400 years.

With Night of Hunters, Amos carries on the classical tradition of variations on a theme: taking inspiration from classical forms to create a bold new work while paying tribute to the mastery of the original compositions.

On Night of Hunters, which she wrote and produced, Amos comments "I have used the structure of a classical song cycle to tell an ongoing, modern story. The protagonist is a woman who finds herself in the dying embers of a relationship. In the course of one night she goes through an initiation of sorts that leads her to reinvent herself allowing the listener to follow her on a journey to explore complex musical and emotional subject matter." "One of the main themes explored on this album is the hunter and the hunted and how both exist within us," the singer explains.

1. Shattering Sea
2. SnowBlind
3. Battle Of Trees
4. Fearlessness
5. Cactus Practice

Yes! Tori Amos Announces New Album And Tour Dates!

Oh man, are we excited for this or WHAT?!

Gurl sounds as though she is pulling out all the stops for this one!

Tori Amos announced today that her new album, which will mark her first release through the classical music record label Deutsche Grammophon, will be called Night of Hunters, and each track will not only follow a specific story, but also take inspiration from classical elements fused together with her original material!

She explains:
“I have used the structure of a classical song cycle to tell an ongoing, modern story. The protagonist is a woman who finds herself in the dying embers of a relationship. In the course of one night she goes through an initiation of sorts that leads her to reinvent herself allowing the listener to follow her on a journey to explore complex musical and emotional subject matter. One of the main themes explored on this album is the hunter and the hunted and how both exist within us.”

Fascinating! We just LOVE how she's constantly exploring different faucets of herself through her music!

The album will be released in September of 2011, and will be supported by a just-announced tour sharing the same name as the album, which will kick off in Helsinki on September 28th!

Oh, hell no! We are NOT missing this one!

So excited!

Check out the full list of tour dates…AFTER THE JUMP!

Different "faucets" of herself, eh? Well, maybe she's found something to tap into.

I've got a ton of her stuff (albums, singles, live shows, VHS and DVD's), but she seems to have settled into a vocal style the last few albums that is a turn-off for me. It's kind of an inebriated Southern slut affectation that she used to utilize on a few songs, but now it's her voice of choice. Also, her songwriting seems to be in cruise-control. The best aspects of the last few albums are, for me, the arrangements, but I skipped the Xmas album completely. We'll see about this one. I do have another album by a "pop star" on the Deutsche Grammophon label that I like a lot: Vangelis "Invisible Connections".

For me with her last few, I buy it, play it, think it's "ok" & than never play it again.

While I also have everything she's released including the Xmas cd, the last great one for me was 1996's Boys For Pele. And that was a LOOOOOOOONG tome ago!

I'm sure it might have something to do with plastic surgery, botox, or photoshopping....

She's also 6 years younger than I & can afford to eat much healthier food.

But you're likely correct!

I will be picking this up for Mrs. Strange.

(I'm pretty sure the reason she married me is because I got her into a front-row center seat for a VIP Tori radio concert in a tiny 100-seat club in Pittsburgh. She sat maybe five feet from Tori. She spent the whole set weeping.)

Tori Amos: 'I knew more about shoes than classical music' - video

Video: Tori Amos - 'We Were Interested In Exploring Classical Themes'

Tori Amos has said that she didn't have very much knowledge of classical music before she began work on her classically inspired new album 'Night Of Hunters'.

The singer who releases her new album, her 12th, on Monday (September 20) via German classical label Deutsche Grammophon, admitted that despite paying homage to the likes of Bach and Chopin she didn't know that much about the genre.

In the video interview, which can be seen by clicking above, the singer said: "I realised I knew more about shoes than classical music," before work began on the album and she started a period of studying the works of various composers.

Speaking about the narrative of the albums "song-cycle" Amos said it followed the aftermath of a couples break up. "They've made the crossing from the new world to the old world and there's a shattering in their relationship." By the end of the album she says their fate is "up to the listener to decide. But there's hope".

'Night Of Hunters' also sees Amos' daughter Natashya Hawley making an appearance playing the character Anabelle. Working with her daughter was "natural", she said.

"If I were having a dark night after a shocking experience I would go to [her] to talk to [her] so naturally I wanted [her] involved in the project."

This is pretty good, but I feel it is a little too long (as is the case with all of Tori's recent works)...
