I'd rather just get another Eagles live rehash album.

The album is going to be called After Hours, with a cocktail lounge motif. (Glenn Frey sings for swinging lovers?) Here's a cell phone video of him doing "The Look Of Love" at last night's concert:

"After Hours" is the title of a Frey/Tempchin song. Wonder if that will be included?

Oh god no! I've really enjoyed some of Glenn's previous solo work, but just the idea of this one makes me want to hurl! All this time spent doing next to nothing with the Eagles of the past years and this is the best he's got? I give up!

I give up! the arrangements of the songs he played on wednesday were nice, obviously some time and effort went to it, but they were standards, they can only be altered so much. i'll buy the album, but i'm sure it won't get a lot of play.

I've just got this bad feeling that there are a ton of artists on the backsides of their careers that are looking at how much money Rod Stewart has made with this crap and are targeting the aging Baby Boomer population for a last big payday. This won't likely be the last of this kind of release.

So why is he abandoning his rock & roll roots for Rod Stewart territory? Just what the music world needs. more lounge music. What else can I say cept I'm thrilled about this release, (NOT)!

Apparently Glenn is doing this album for his parents, and the music they love. If he was going to do a covers album, I would have much preferred a selection of songs that focused on his influence, i.e. the R&B sounds that came out of his hometown of Detroit.
Glenn has also stated that a 2 dvd documentary is in the works to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Eagles.

While I love Henley and Frey, their word is certainly not the Bible. I would hope that the dvd includes comments from present and former Eagles.

This is so far getting a limited release so make sure you grab one right away. I'm hearing its very very good and is audiophile quality. This will end up being a big surprise.

JoeP wrote: More like.... yet another trash the artist thread. But sometimes releasing music out of an artists known "comfort zone" is crap. Maybe they do this because they're... a) Bored. b) Feel artistically constrained by their more popular reputation. c) Are broke & need the money asap. d) Musically feel like traveling down the road not taken. e) All the above. And sometimes music artists need to dance with the one that brought them. So they indulge these "one off" projects to massage their guilt for "selling out". That's all well and good but the best of intentions do not always amount to much of anything. In fact the odds are stacked against them from the start. Ask yourselves how many of these types of recordings are considered even remotely good? Not that many. Personally I'd like to get either get busy with another Eagles record or do some more of his 80's output such as Smugglers Blues, You belong to the city, etc. Heck some of his 90's music is impressive. But abandoning all of the aforementioned for the lounge music sounds like a crap fest to me. And the thing is most of an artists fan base will see it that way too. At the very best it'll only sell marginally well at worst it gets skewered by music critics everywhere. By the time that happens it becomes a black mark on their permanent music record. So I know what I'd like to hear from Glenn are you guys really up for some lounge music standards? I didn't think so!
