Gary Moore fans are still missing their guitar hero, who passed away earlier this year while on holiday in Spain.
There is good news for those fans who need a fix of some fresh Moore, though, as Eagle Records confirms the release next month of “Gary Moore: Live At Montreux 2010.”
Last year, Gary made a conscious return to rock music after a long period of time exploring the blues. In fact, Moore was in the stages of writing and working on a new rock album at the time of his death on February 6, 2011.
Moore’s performance at Montreux in July 2010 was his last performance to be filmed. The setlist draws heavily on his rock albums of the eighties, adds a couple of his classic blues tracks and includes three brand new songs that would have featured on the album left uncompleted on his death.
“Live at Montreux 2010″ will be available in three formats: CD, DVD & Blu-Ray, while in Japan it will be available in limited DVD+2CD and Blu-Ray+2CD versions as well.
The project will be released in Japan on August 31 and throughout UK/Europe on September 19.

Moore was working on an album before his death that would have been a return to his rock ways. The 3 new songs on this release would have been part of that release. My guess is whatever he recorded for it will see the light of day somehow and soon.

Bump: the domestic pressings of the CD, DVD and Blu-ray will be released on September 20th, and I've added pre-order details to the first post. The provisional tracklisting which Pete had pasted into the second post has changed, so I've removed that -- the tracklisting in the first post is what Eagle is now saying the discs will contain.
For completists: as discussed upthread, the USA pressing of the CD will indeed contain only 11 tracks, but the Japanese import is a 2-CD set which includes the audio of all 13 tracks from the video releases:

One thing that's interesting is that historically, Eagle has tended to do both DVD only & DVD/CD combos, but not CD only. If the Japan version wasn't so expensive........

My local shop had it on sale today (CD only), picked it up. Am listening to it now. It is the best thing Gary has released since "After The War" back in like 1989. The new songs are great. The new studio album could have been a big thing to celebrate for Gary's rock fans (like me). R.I.P.
Wish someone that knew his rock roots had been in charge of the CD release though - putting "Walking By Myself" on this instead of "Thunder Rising" is a crime against humanity. "Walkin'" ruins the whole vibe, just like it did at the Philo tribute concert he did.

FYI, I bought the B-R today. The Blu-ray has a hi-res 96/24 2.0 audio track. Unfortunately it's quite loud/compressed (Eagle's norm), but it's good to have GM in hi-res at all.

Speaking of Gary Moore, I just recently picked up a Gary Moore "tribute" CD by Siggi Schwarz and it is fantastic - "Still Got the Blues: A Tribute to Gary Moore".
Well worth seeking out if you are a Gary Moore fan. Amazing versions of stuff like Parisienne Walkways, The Loner, Out In The Fields, Don't Believe a Word, Over the Hills and Far Away, Midnight Blues, Empty Rooms and moore (pun intended). Can't get the thing out of my CD player.

Actually getting around to playing the whole thing today, (well over a year after I bought it). Dear God, it's brickwalled. Musically it's great, but sonically the blu-ray is painful to listen to. GOD I HATE THE MUSIC INDUSTRY! What is the point of 96/224 brickwalled????
