Just describe IMWAN. That'll be classified as master fiction for sure.

"Advanced?"

What if we're all just characters in a story by Wayne? Am I real?

(That was a requirement of earning my MFA in English. After I got the MA, they changed the program
to an MFA. So, it's English: Creative Writing: Nonfiction.)

What's your motivation in getting a Master's? Just the prestige or are you thinking of making a career shift?

That sounds like it might be fun. College? High school?

I think I would enjoy teaching 2nd, maybe 3rd grade.
When they get much older than that, I don't much care for them.

I have considered on a few occasions going back and getting back and getting
the teaching credentials. I don't need them to teach adults. Might be fun to
teach younger kids for a change.

Still, in High School, I could specialize in a topic or subject area. Still, I think
I have enough degrees and background that I could teach any topic. I'd rather
teach the younger kids.

Good luck, Wayne.

I did my first day today substitute teaching Eng/Lit in 7th grade. One of the teachers is out until Sept 26th on maternity leave. I didn't have a lot of time to prepare so I picked up where the previous sub had left off - and that was reading orally in class. For the whole class. One hour and 20 minutes. Hell, I was bored myself and I know the kids were hating it.

One kid who looks like Brick from the Middle fell asleep a couple of times. I nudged him and woke him up. At the end of the day, he saw me and told me, "When class is boring like that, it makes me really tired, really fast." I apologized to him and told him I'd try to spice it up for them once I had a little time to prepare.

I thought that was hilarious and so did my wife.

Hmm, I don't remember our class periods being 80 minutes long in 7th grade! We had, I think, 8 periods to get through, so I believe they were an hour. I don't know how you can hold students' attention for longer than that.

If this is indeed a career change for you, I hope you enjoy it!

Wayne's like Batman. All he needs is "time to prepare"....

Make FX required reading.

Move on to the next class.

Rinse, repeat.

I can see "FX" being much more popular than, say Lord of the Flies or Great Expectations.
