'Napoleon Dynamite' to be turned into cartoon with help from 'The Simpsons'
2004's cult comedy film Napoleon Dynamite is to be turned into an animated television series, Fox network has announced. The show will feature the voices of the main original cast members, including Jon Hader as Napoleon, Efren Ramirez as Pedro and Aaron Ruell as Kip. It will once again be set in Idaho.
The film's writers, Jared and Jerusha Hess, are working on the series with Simpsons producer Mike Scully.
Napolean Dynamite: The Animated Series is expected to air on US television in late 2011.

I've been thinking about this, and I decided to randomly change my mind: This could work. Really well. I think the characters would be playable to at least a season worth of material. Plus, there's been a serious void in red neck-y animated tv humor since the cancelation of King of The Hill.

I'll give it a chance.
What was redneck-y about Napoleon Dynamite?
Their pronunciation of "Quesadillas".
"Make yourself a dang kay-sa-dill-a!"
That's the grandma. She seems more "bumpkin" than "redneck." A somewhat subtle distinction, but easier to make if you've lived among both types. (You should hear how people out here in Indiana pronounce the names of Mexican dishes. Yikes!)
Uncle Rico seems more bumpkin than redneck, too. Napoleon and Kip are bizarre geeks/freaks/nerds.
I think the Gem State would be upset if you characterized them as redneck-y.

Red neck was the wrong word. "Rural" might have been more appropriate.

I really like the character of Napoleon Dynamite. I took a lot of crap from people when I was in school, but I was always higher on the social ladder than the Napoleon Dynamite types. Despite this, I think deep down we were all jealous of those odd kids in school who never conformed to acceptable societal behavior and never felt so pressured to be "normal."
