Bruce Willis in talks for 'GI Joe 2'

Bruce Willis is said to be locked in talks with Paramount about a possible role in the latest G.I. Joe film. The role available to Willis is reported by Deadline.com to be that of General Joe Colton, the original GI Joe.

If the star of the Die Hard series does become attached to the sequel, he will join the original film's star Channing Tatum, as well as fellow action star Dwayne Johnson, who signed onto the project earlier this year.

Jon M Chu, director of Step Up 2 and the Justin Bieber concert film, Never Say Never, will direct.

The first GI Joe film, Rise Of The Cobra, grossed over $300 million (£184 million) worldwide.

Earlier this month, Willis was revealed to be returning to The Expendables cast, as well as looking into a fifth Die Hard film.

GI Joe 2: Retaliation is set to start shooting at the end of next month. It is due for release June 29, 2012.

I wish they'd ditch Tatum but am psyched for The Rock and Willis.

The first GI Joe Movie is just preposterous... but I have to confess I love the scene in Paris with the accelerator suits or whatever those things were.

Crewmember killed on set of 'GI Joe'

A crew member on the new GI Joe film has been killed, it has emerged.

Mike Huber was working on a high-powered scissor lift to tear down one of the film’s sets when the machine tipped over and he sustained fatal injuries, according to TMZ.

New Orleans-based Huber was a hired local from New Orleans who had been contracted to work on the sequel.

A spokesperson from Paramount said in a statement: "Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with [Huber’s] family at this time. The safety of our cast and crew is our top priority and the studio is fully co-operating with all investigating agencies as they examine the circumstances surrounding this unusual accident."

It is not yet known how the tragedy will impact on the production or release of the film.

Directed by Jon Chu, GI Joe 2: Retaliation is due for release next year. It sees Channing Tatum return to the lead role and features Dwayne Johnson and Ray Park.
