Five physical editions including vinyl, CD, DVD and digital options will be made available.


Über Deluxe Edition

A limited, numbered Über Deluxe Edition is a magnetic puzzle tiled box which will contain: 6 CDs including the original Achtung Baby album, the follow-up album, Zooropa, B-sides and re-workings of previously unheard material recorded during the Achtung Baby sessions. 4 DVDs including From The Sky Down, Zoo TV: Live From Sydney, all the videos from Achtung Baby plus bonus material. There will also be 5 clear 7" vinyl singles in their original sleeves, 16 art prints taken from the original album sleeve, an 84-page hardback book, a copy of Propaganda magazine, 4 badges, a sticker sheet, and a pair of Bono’s trademark 'The Fly' sunglasses.

The album won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance and became one of the most significant records of the nineties and of U2’s career.

To mark twenty years since its 1991 release, an anniversary edition of U2’s Achtung Baby is due on October 31, 2011.

Recorded over six months at Hansa Studio in Berlin and Windmill Lane in Dublin, Achtung Baby is U2’s seventh studio album. Produced by long time U2 collaborators, Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno with Steve Lillywhite, Achtung Baby was engineered by Flood and led by "The Fly". The album spawned four other singles, "Mysterious Ways", "One", "Even Better Than The Real Thing" and "Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses".

The Achtung Baby archives have unearthed some previously unreleased songs from the recording sessions. With a raft of unreleased material; video, remixes, b-sides and documentary footage discovered, a full album of demo and early versions of the final 1991 tracklisting has also been revealed. Five physical editions including vinyl, CD, DVD and digital options will be made available.

Earlier this year U2 returned to Hansa Studio in Berlin to discuss Achtung Baby in From The Sky Down, directed by Academy Award winning director Davis Guggenheim (Waiting for Superman, An Inconvenient Truth). The film has been selected to open the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8th and will be included in the anniversary edition.

That Uber Deluxe set is something else. Looks like it weighs 10lbs. I'll probably get the super deluxe though (as I don't need vinyl).

Very expensive Fall. :(

These super expensive deluxe sets are begining to become ridiculous.

I do like having all the rare stuff in one package, but the price tag is excesive.

I think the stock market crashed yesterday after U2 fans emptied their stock portfolios to pay for the Über Deluxe Edition.

I'm disappointed that they are skipping Rattle & Hum. I know it's not a proper album, but there are some excellent songs on it. Plus, there's a ton of live stuff they could have added.

Lots of remixes and probably the demo tapes that were stolen from them in 1991. There were also some covers during this time frame. I'm good with the 2CD version-don't need the other stuff.
Looking more forward to Zooropa, but this one will be cool as well. I have heard Rattle And Hum is still in the works.

Looks like a joke-and lots of remixes as I figured. So the only way to get Zooropa is the giant box set? Are they going to insult fans that badly? And look at all those useless remixes!
I'll definitely stick with my plan for the 2CD version and I'm not even thrilled with that. I am furious Zooropa is getting ignored. I'd hope it gets a seperate release. Man, talk about greed and then some.

I agree that this is a huge letdown IP. And my recollection is that the original mix isn't that bad anyway. I already have the album and all the singles, so I may skip this altogether.

Achtung Baby is my second favorite U2 album (after the first one of course) so this is mucho anticipated for me.

Does the Deluxe version have the Zooropa mixes? I'm not getting the Uber set.

Ouch! Those re-mixes are at times very painful, I have almost every U2 CD single and I very rarely play them as the B-Sides are just a re-mix very badly done that goes for ever and has zero music content. There are also some brilliant B-Sides that deserve to be re-issued.

4 Cds of re-mixes make me cringe.
