Comrades - I seem to remember a comics that was a parody of Avengers no.1 but with communist characters - one was a giant elephant?
An extra bread ration and a pair of shoe-laces for the comrade who can help me with this!

In addition, who was the communist character who actually beats down Captain America in a thinly-veined take on the vietnam war?

I am probably wrong but for some reason I am thinking of Alan Moore's 1963 series of books for Image from a few years back.

Was this in AVENGERS or CAPTAIN AMERICA?
When was it published? (That sounds to me like something that was most likely to have been published in the early 70's, but of course, I could be wrong.)

I seem to remember that Power Pachyderms had a different name right up until print date. Something like Adolescent Atomic Samurai Elephants. Gee, I wonder why they might've changed it?

IIRC, "Power Pachyderms" started out as "Adult Thermonuclear Samurai Hippos" but it was changed along the way as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle "parody" fad died out. My favorite title of all of the TMNT "parodies" was "Pre-Teen, Dirty-Gene, Kung-Fu Kangaroos". That one always cracked me up.
