Wilco to 'begin recording new album later this month'
Wilco are set to begin recording their new album later this month.
The follow-up to 2009's 'Wilco (The Album)', frontman Jeff Tweedy revealed that as soon as the group have some time off they will head into the studio.
"We're getting into the studio later this month to start recording the next Wilco record," Tweedy said in an interview with Billboard.com. "The way we've been touring the past year, there's been a dividing line between one record and the next as there ever had been because we've been touring so intensively and we haven't been able to do any recording on the side. But this is usually the way we seem to work when we have downtime, we generally spend it in the studio."
The band's first studio effort since leaving their record label Nonesuch, Tweedy revealed that the group are still unsure how they will release the LP, although did speak favourably about Radiohead's pay-what-you-want release of 'In Rainbows'.
"I know some of the guys in Radiohead and talk to them, but our manager pays more attention to the[ir] business models than I do," he admitted. "When Radiohead streamed their album and let people pay what they wanted, I thought that was similar to what we had been doing for years, but we didn't take the money because we were on a major at the time; we ended up giving the money to charity."
He added: "Everyone made a big deal of it, but it seemed like such a no-brainer to me. The record is going to leak anyway and people are going to download it at some point before it comes out, [that] you might as well make something rather than make nothing."

Wilco to 'start writing new album later this month'
Wilco are going to begin writing a new album later this month.
Set to be the follow-up to 2009's 'Wilco (The Album)', the Chicago-based group are currently taking some time off after recently finishing a European tour.
"We're taking a couple of weeks off," Pat Sansone told thd Los Angeles Times. "When I get back toward the end of [the] month, we're getting back together to start working, to start the first writing sessions for the record. We've done a little bit of brainstorming, but the real work is going to begin at the end of [the] month."
As previously reported, frontman Jeff Tweedy revealed that the group are still unsure how they will release the LP, speaking favourably about Radiohead's pay-what-you-want release of 'In Rainbows'.
"I know some of the guys in Radiohead and talk to them, but our manager pays more attention to the[ir] business models than I do," he admitted. Wilco name forthcoming new album - audio
In a Stateside radio interview bandleader Jeff Tweedy explained that the group’s new record would be called ‘The Whole Love’, reports Pitchfork.
‘The Whole Love’ will be the Chicago based band’s eighth studio album, following 2009’s self-titled effort ‘Wilco’, and will be released later this year.
The band recently curated their very own festival, the Solid Sound Festival in Massachusetts, where they debuted new tracks 'Born Alone' and 'Dawned on Me' during their two headline gigs.
Listen to the band’s new single – their first release on their own dBpm record label – ‘I Might’, below:

The album was streamed on wilcoworld.net over the weekend, and it has popped up on the net. I haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but I love what I've heard so far.

Now streaming in full on NPR. This is a seriously fine album, the songs are wonderful, the band is in peak form. Love it.
By the way, for those of you so inclined, the double vinyl is 180 gram, pressed at Pallas, has one extra song not on the deluxe cd, and it comes with a copy of the standard issue cd.

I love this record. I've had a leaked copy for a couple of weeks, and I've been playing it non-stop (I also per-ordered it from the band for those who might be offended by my picking it up this way).
I'm going to the Boston show tonight, and I can't wait to hear these songs live.
