In my hometown, there is a DJ/Musician named Kim Mitchell. He did a song years ago called Go For A Soda, as well as others. He has a segment on his show called "I Wish I Wrote That". I was wondering what song IMWANkers wished they'd written. For me, it would have to be 8 Easy Steps by Alanis Morissette.
:ohyes:

So what song do you wish you'd written? :-D

I have a playlist in iTunes that has about 144 songs that I'd wished I'd written. Do I have to only pick one?

Yes. The Simpsons would be cool. Even though I don't watch tv, I know that it used to be on several times a day on many channels. And that's just in my hometown. The royalties would probably be worth a fortune.

What song generates the most royalties? I'd pick that one.

I wish I wrote "Happy Birthday" and copyrighted that crap, then I would be getting royalty checks every day!

Danny Elfman wrote the Simpsons theme, as well as numerous other themes such as 1989's Batman and the music for the Spider-Man films.

The guy's banking, no doubt.

Elfman was also the driving force behind Oingo Boingo, which scored with 80s alt-rock hits like "Dead Man's Party" and the theme song for "Weird Science."

Thanks, UT. I love The Way. they have another really good song called Out Of My Head. It's a little short, (I don't think there's a 2nd verse) but I like it anyways.

"You Get What You Give" by the New Radicals.

The lyrics are so intentionally immature that it has become symbolic of all pop music for me. It makes me feel like kid again. It's also one of those songs that I'll find stuck in my head days after I hear it.

Good call. Both of these songs utilize the piano perfectly in their arrangements.
