went to breakfast at cracker barrel by myself this morning (love their sampler) and after decided to take a walk through the sears outlet store across the street from cracker barrel.

what do i see? a "bose cinemate series II system" for $421.00! i run, literally to the cashier and asked if this was refurbished of rebuilt or returned or anything like that and she proceeds to tell me that they get those when the boxes are damaged. it was 100% brand new and under full warranty.

i HAD to buy it.

and i must say, and i know there are plenty of bose haters out there, it sounds great!

Great deal and an excellent move to jump on it Renny.
Let us know how it sounds and what you will be using it for (for movies and/or CD listening).

Rick A.

PS By the way, I love the Cracker Barrel sampler; that's what I order everytime I visit. :ohyes:

At first I thought you were going to say you found some deals on those Cracker-Barrell-exclusive CD collections. (Hey, some of them don't look that bad...)

Sounds like you made a great score on those speakers.

Nice price for a solid 2.1 setup. One caveat is that Bose apparently doesn't support DTS, so you may be limited in playing some of your DVDs.

So, Renny ... when are you going to fill out your equipment profile?

No Cracker Barrells around here, thank god. As my waistline wouldn't approve. :D

Indiana is the Perfect Storm as we have Cracker Barrel, Steak & Shake, Five Guys AND Scotty's Brewhouse. If we had an In & Out, I'd have had a heart attack by now.

Last Cracker Barrel we ate at we got food poisoning about 5 years ago. No more Cracker Barrel after that.

cali,

i know you will find this hard to believe, but other than the a few seasons of seinfeld (would like them all but never got around to it) i do not own a DVD. i just might watch some of those DVD's that came with CD's i've bought however.

this system will strictly be used to augment my TV, which had OK sound, but nothing like this. we watched "nightmare on elm street" (the new one) last night because nothing else was on, and the sound difference was phenomenal.

Congrats on your purchase. I've always felt sound is as important as visual so better speakers always enhance the viewing experience. It will make you want to watch more movies.

No doubt the Bose system should blow away your TV's built-in speakers.

As for DVDs, yeah, I'm surprised -- I figured most of us were infected with the collecting bug on audio and visual fronts. But what about rentals? Do you stream? Or do you tend to catch most movies in the theater?

Wow!...that's a great deal.

While on a road trip from Massachusetts to California about 18 years ago, a friend and I stopped in at a Cracker Barrel...can't remember which city it was now. My friend, who was a vegetarian, asked if they had any vegetarian options. With a straight face, the server told her, "Well, we have cottage cheese." My friend noticed a some kale on the plate of a diner at the next table and asked about that. The server said, "Oh, that's just the garnish for the dish." My friend ended up ordered a plate of the steamed garnish.
