Ned Doheny was one of the original Asylum artists along with Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther and the Eagles. His first album was in a different vein than his country-rock colleagues but demonstrated that he was the "real deal". His subsequent albums were released on Columbia Records and in Japan. This is his first new music in an extended period away from the music scene. The music is solid BUT is only available (to my knowledge) as a download from cdbaby.com. For some of us who prefer physical cds, it's a shame but, if you are a fan, you won't be disappointed-the music is great!

Ned's HARD CANDY and PRONE are coming as a two-fer from Superbird, the Cherry Red-associated label, and should be available from all of the usual retail suspects. Details here:

It's due in stores on July 25.

Love "Get it up For Love" and most of Hard Candy. Never heard Prone, as it was Japanese only (at least on a rare CD, it was). This will be cool, provided it's not mastered on blast like most of Cherry Red's stuff.

Per Ned-there should be physical copies of the cd available through his web site. As for the two-fer, he is aware of it but it seems to be done without his input. Hard Candy was great and Prone, though never released in the US, was equally good.
