Yesterday, watching YouTube videos posted on IMWAN worked fine. Last night all YouTube videos posted on IMWAN were not showing the videos but were instead showing a black box. The YouTube site was also showing a black box for all videos.

I dug around on the internet, lots of peeps are having this problem. Apparently the problem is with YouTube and not with Adobe Flash Player, or anything else. Someone discovered a work-around until YouTube gets this fixed, and that is when you call up a video to watch, put an 's' after the http.

You might get some other error boxes that pop up, and clicking on those will cause the video to stop. You can just leave these error boxes up until the video is done, then close them and move on to the next video. Repeat ad finitum...

Well, I can watch YouTube videos posted on Facebook, but can't watch them posted on IMWAN, nor from YouTube directly. Hmmm...

I bee using Internet Explorer 8...

Well, thanks to Geff's suggestion about the Firefox browser, I went ahead and downloaded it. Then it prompted me that I had to update my Adobe Flash player, something that Internet Explorer had not done. I was only one version away from the latest Adobe so I didn't think it was an issue, and I didn't try to update it earlier this morning because I had read in numerous postings on the internet that upgrading to the newest Adobe Flash player was not fixing this YouTube problem.

So the fix WAS to update Adobe Flash, and now YouTube works in both Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Chrome is still somewhat skeletal, but what it does have works better with Google sites such as YouTube than any of the other browsers. I usually use Maxthon for work, but I've reached the point where I'll open Chrome instead if I feel like watching YouTube videos for a while.
