I think it's just to represent the major characters who died in Countdown, IC, and 52. If they do actually bring them back just to mangle and kill them again...

All the "fallen" characters appear to be missing limbs...wonder if it's meant to be that way or just poor art, like Donna Troys missing lower leg.

That's how I interpreted it. "We massacred them in the most dispicable ways (Good!), now let's parade them around to rub salt in the wounds of those fans who cared for these characters (GREAT!!) and titillate all those who love the bloodlust (OH YESSSSS!!!!)"

That guy in the front (sorry I'm drawing a blank ... Cave Carson?), if that's poor art and not catastrophic physical damage then it's exquisitely poor art. His chest is facing the same direction as his buttocks and (remaining) leg.

I think he's supposed to have had his neck twisted so that his head is facing backwards (looks like his arms are facing the opposite direction as well)

Yeah, I know, it's just that it's so well hidden it doesn't look right. I think you're right about the rubble (but still think it isn't drawn well and is easy to interpret as missing limbs).
