This is from The Second Disc:

2010 had no shortage of reissues from The Stooges. All three of their classic studio LPs were reissued – The Stooges in a new deluxe edition from Rhino Handmade, Fun House through the repressed 1970: The Complete Fun House Sessions box set also from Rhino Handmade and Raw Power as part of Sony’s Legacy Edition series – and Handmade released a live set, Have Some Fun: Live at Ungano’s. There was even a reissue of frontman Iggy Pop and guitarist James Williamson’s Kill City. Not a bad batch of catalogue tributes to an influential band.

But 2011 is shaping up to be a nice year for fans of Iggy, as well. Shout! Factory just announced a four-disc box set at the end of last weekend that will showcase the singer’s live history from past to present. Roadkill Rising: The Bootleg Collection 1977-2009 collects performances from all over the world, including Pop originals, Stooges classics and a few covers as well. These “newly remastered bootleg tracks” are part of the label’s ongoing commitment to quality “official” bootlegs, so fans can likely expect a nicely packaged box. The first 400 pre-orders will also get a bonus disc – one of the early concerts from 1979 presented in full, unavailable anywhere else.

The box drops on May 17. Pre-order it here and check out the track list after the jump.

"Shout" does have interesting cover art. If you do not recall the ELP Bootleg, check it out. Same artist I'm sure. :}

I got an early copy of this but it has only 4 CDs. The Amazon link also lists 4 discs. If anybody gets a fifth bonus disc, let us know.

I pre-ordered this and the Loudon Wainwright Box from Shout! Factory when I saw it posted here specifically for the bonuses. I got an email that they were both shipped Friday.

Jimbo and/or Mr Fuse. Let us know what you think of the sound quality. I did like Shout's ELP Bootleg box remastered by Randy Wine. Did he do the remastering?

Although it wont be a true representation of the quality, I am listening to the stream on Spinner.com and am happy to hear that, for the most part, the recordings don't sound too much like bootlegs. Might have to get this one.

The artwork is by William Stout. He is famous for his Smokin' Pig TMOQ vinyl bootleg covers from the 1970's. Here is a link to his website:

The sound is high quality, much better than most live bootlegs.

I got this this morning and have listened to the first 2 discs and the Bonus Disc from the Old Waldorf 11/27/79. It comes as a 4 CD fatboy jewel case in a slipcase with a 12 page booklet that lists the tracks and where they were recorded. No other liner notes on band members, source tapes. etc.. Each CD covers a decade in Iggy's career.The Bonus disc has 14 tracks, 5 of which are on Disc 1 of the box, and comes in a seperate paper sleeve which is hand numbered in pen. I got 185 of 400. The music was indeed remastered by Randy Wine. The fidelity varies but from what I have listened to so far, is quite acceptable. Light years better than the Rhino Unganos disc. Most of the shows represented sound like radio broadcasts from the soundboard or recorded off air. Not audiophile quality to be sure, but a great listen if you are an Iggy fan. Iggy's intros and between song banter are always a riot and there is quite a bit of that on here from what I have listened to so far. On a personal note, I was thrilled to have been at 2 of the shows that are on this box, one from The Ritz and the other from the old 1018 Club in Noo Yawk back in the 80's.
