BONZO DOG DOO-DAH BAND MAKE FIRST NEW ALBUM IN 35 YEARS

The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band have made their first studio album in 35 years - with new members Adrian Edmondson, Stephen Fry and Phill Jupitus joining the original bonkers gang.

Original members Neil Innes, Roger Ruskin Spear, Rodney Slater, 'Legs' Larry Smith, vernon Dudley Bohay-Nowell, Sam Spoons and Bob Kerr have responded to the enthusiasm that has greeted them during their 40th anniversary tour, and created a brand new album.

'Pour L'Amour Des Chiens' features 70 minutes worth of new material from Neil Innes and co, 28 tracks - one of which is their own rendition of Kaiser Chiefs' 'I Predict A Riot'.

The album, released on December 10, will also come with a bonus DVD - featuring previously unreleased live performances. Tracks include the classic 'Urban Spaceman' and 'Jollity Farm'.

Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band will be playing two shows 'It's A Yappy Christmas' at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire, on December 21 and 22.

Thanks Linda. So they're back to calling themselves the Bonzo Dog DOO DAH Band? I thought they dropped the Doo Dah a long time ago. Too bad they dropped (at no fault of their own, I know) Vivian Stanshall along the way. I bought the two CD live reunion show, but to be honest I haven't had the chance to listen to it completely yet. I've slowly been picking up the remastered CDs though. There's some really good stuff on some of those old albums. I'll consider the new CD, but only after I've gotten the originals!

Finally listened to the live album all the way through last night (Wrestle Poodles and Win). Not bad. But sort of expected being a live set and without Vivian. I'll definitely check out the new studio album though. Maybe that'll be more in the spirit ("inspired lunacy" or whatever you might want to call it) of the original albums of 35 years ago or more.

Jay,

Moon supposedly was the drummer on the track "What Do You Do" on the album Keynsham, and it sure does sound like him playing. (In fact the whole track sounds like a Who outtake with Neil Innes on vocals instead of Daltrey.) Here's the reissue:

Keith Moon recites the absurd nursery rhyme on the song: 'My Pink Half Of The Drainpipe' from their second LP - 'The Doughnut In Granny's Greenhouse.'
