Does anyone have this? I just gave mine a listen and I'm going to trade it in. It's really nothing special, and I'm sorry I bought it. My only question, if anyone knows, is who is playing the acoustic guitar on "Won't Get Fooled Again"? I know Pete played the acoustic guitar in the late 80's because of his hearing, but this is a 70's show on disc 1. I can hear Pete's electric guitar, but there is also a very clear sounding acoustic as well. I don't think it's Roger.

I'm about to leave for work, so I can stick my copy in the dashboard on the way and see if I can hear this. Two things to note, however:

1. This version of WGFA apparently also appeared on "View From A Backstage Pass", although the track time on that disc is 8:54, compared to GHL's 8:38. There is likely a perfectly logical answer for this, however.

2. Although the notes for both GHL and VFABP state that this was recorded in Largo on 12/6/73, some sources claim that this was actually recorded 12/4/73 in Philadelphia.

One preliminary guess (and it's only that--like I said, I'll listen in the car) is that the 1973 "Quadrophenia" tour was the one where the Who were one of the first bands to attempt to play live using pre-recorded backing tapes, with mixed results. It is very likely that this acoustic guitar is simply part of the same backing tape containing the canned synthesizer--I don't believe that the Who would tour with an actual keyboard player until after Moon died.

Trade your CD for View From A Backstage Pass. That is a great LIVE Who CD set.

I've now listened to the live "Won't Get Fooled Again" on both the GHL and VFABP discs, and I'd like to retract my previous comment: A acoustic rhythm guitar can distinctly be heard, but it sounds like an overdub, and not something at all organic to the original live recording. I also can't hear it on the "5:15" recording purportedly from the same concert. Who, when, or why the guitar was added is unclear, although it sounds an awful lot like Pete's style of playing, and Pete certainly has access to the recording facilities to overdub any existing tape he wishes.

As for "View From A Backstage Pass"--Last year, when http://www.thewho.com announced that a 40th anniversary edition of "Live At Leeds" would be the new fan club subscription premium, I wound up calling up a Live Nation operator and essentially begged for a copy of the VFABP disc that I had procrastinated buying for three years or so. It still cost me $50, but I did manage to get one. That may still work.

I would rather buy full Who shows, as opposed to these releases where they are not full shows but songs from various concerts.
