Through a rising career tragically cut short with his untimely passing in a plane crash in December 1967 at the age of 26, Otis Redding – known affectionately as ‘The Big O’ – left such a strong stamp on the world of music that he justifiably was called ‘The King Of Soul.’

Although he’s probably best remembered for “(Sittin’ On) The Dock Of The Bay,” a massive global hit just weeks after his death, Otis was much-loved by soul music fans everywhere through ballads like “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long” and “Try A Little Tenderness” and grooves like his original of “Respect” and “Mr. Pitiful.” A dynamic and energetic live performer who wowed audiences on both sides of the Atlantic, Otis embodied the very word ‘soul’ and this great collection is a reminder of his musical legacy.
