Saw this baby at Barnes & Nobles tonight and bought the last one. A 150 page retrospective of every Stones era and album. Similar to the Mojo special issues and beautifully done. Tons of rare interviews and reviews of every song.
Sweet!

You should-just thumbing through it, it's something any Stones fan should have. Maybe try Amazon's magazine section or B&N's website? Or Uncut itself?

I have one and it's great! Wish I knew you never got one, J-Bo. I thought for sure you'd have scoffed this up already. If I stumble across another one...

This thread was Jimbo inspired by the way-I thought of you as I was buying it.

There is now a Who edition I bought tonight at Barnes & Nobles and it's every bit as great as The Stones one. Don't know how long it's been out but there were only 2 left from the original 10 copies. Now there's one!
Have they done any other acts this way in Uncut?

An update-there is now a David Bowie edition I bought last month (this is the newest one) which adds to my Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and The Who editions.
As always, this was too expensive for a magazine and yet, it's worth every penny somehow!

How much is the Bowie? Is B&N the only B&M that carries it (they're a bit of a drive)?

I have the Bowie one as well. Excellent magazine! No, it's not a B&N exclusive. Not many retailers carry this though, best call ahead with a list of possibilities who may do. Possible a Books a Million if you have one locally. Previously my indie use to carry them but it no longer exists.

The B&N near me didn't have it. Borders was always much better at stocking the UK music mags out here.

My B&N has the Bowie Uncut special issue for $17.99, which was a little too pricey for me. It didn't come with a bonus CD or DVD, or anything extra. Just the magazine. When Mojo & Classic Rock do special issues, they usually come with at least one bonus, and they're only $14.99.

There are probably good Bowie books that are cheaper than that. I know this magazine is an import, but it definitely doesn't need to cost that much. It would've been a no-brainer at $10-$12.

Yes-I was surprised when I saw the price, but for an extra $3 (they're usually 14.99) I wasn't going to bother missing out on it. Those CDs usually included are often horrid remakes by a bunch of nobodys that I throw away, so that was no loss for me.
The price was too high, but the presentation of these special issues and what is included is really well done each and every time. but believe me, I understand the issue with the price.
However, it's also way better than the majority of the books on Bowie out there!

Are there no good Bowie books out there? At some point I'll be revisiting the entire Bowie catalog, and I like the fact that these magazines often do an album-by-album analysis, but I figured there must be a book out there that does the same thing. is this Uncut Bowie special issue REALLY good...and worth that price? Maybe I should look online for a B&N coupon.

I found a 20% off B&N coupon, which would bring the price down to $14.39. I may have to consider it now.

Do they allow coupons on magazines? Borders almost never did.

I read the fine print on the coupon, and it doesn't specify that magazines aren't included. Other than Gift Cards, gift wrapping, textbooks, videogames, digital content, NOOK, hardware, electronics, software, Rosetta Stone, etc., the only possible issue would be "products not eligible for 'coupons or other promotional discounts.'" I'm guessing they could tell me this applies to magazines when I get there, but I'll give it a shot.

My wife would get Borders 40% off coupons, and I was always disappointed that magazines weren't included. How I would love 40% off this Bowie mag.
