Being that there a lot of Power Pop aficionados on this board, I figured this would be the place to ask: Has the censored 45 version of Good Girls don't ever showed up on cd?

Not that I'm aware of, although it might be worth looking into the various "Hits Of 1979" collections that are out there. I have most of The Knack's albums, including the comps because they're peppered with otherwise unavailable tracks, and I don't believe the single version of "Good Girls Don't" is on any of them. The censored version of "She's So Selfish" (originally done for a Canadian single) was on the first American CD pressing of Get The Knack, though.

Okay! Ironically I've had this sitting in my own collection for the Big Star single mix that's on it, and never listened to the Knack track! But the version of "Good Girls Don't" that you're looking for is on this compilation:

Amazon has a bunch of cheaper copies available through their third party dealers:

Oddly enough, the Rhino "Poptopia" comp that has many of the same tracks, including "Good Girls Don't", features the album version and not the single version. Interesting!

If you're interested, Deep Discount CD has the Golden Decade CD for $13.29, which includes shipping.

I wouldn't wait too long, because sometimes Varese Sarabande titles can be hard to track down once they're gone.

I agree with Walter, grab this while it's still available. Varese comps tend to go OOP rather quickly and wind up going for collector's prices on Amazon and eBay. Plus, the folks at Varese know their music and frequently seed their comps with a few hard-to-find goodies--which is true of this power pop collection too.

The Poptopia cds were the first thing I thought of when I saw the tracklist for this set. The musical equipment gearhead in me also digs the covers on this cd, as well as the 3 Poptopia discs. I figured that if the single version of GGD didn't show up on Poptopia, it was going to be a tough find. I did order one of the previously owned discs of Golden Decade off of Amazon immediately after Linda pointed me over there. I have been finding out the hard way that it is not wise to wait on "niche" discs.

I found this out the hard way. There was a comp of Boyce and Hart material about 10 years or so, that included "I remember the Feeling" when they had teamed with Dolenz and Jones in the 70's. Everytime I saw it, I'd look at it, and say to myself, "I'll get it next time". (which I have a bad tendency to do) Next thing I knew , it was gone.

Jeff

BTW, has anyone heard how Doug Feigers doing? I've seen no mention of him anywhere since his operation last year...

The doctors expected him to make a full recover ~ he's been back touring with the band since December. They're playing at the Foxwoods Resort & Casino in Connecticut tonight, in fact.

Great news! I've met him a couple of times, and he's just a nice down to earth guy.
