I found this link on Mark Evanier's site:

http://www.sdreader.com/php/cover.php?mode=article&showpg=1&id=20040819

The article in the on-line version of the San Diego Reader details the rags-to-riches-to-rags story of Pacific Comics ... as told by a former employee.

Big fan of the Eclipse. Airboy was especially done very well.

I've always wondered what happened to Pacific, thanks for that link. I was a big fan of some of their stuff, particularly the Alien Worlds and Twisted Tales anthologies from Bruce Jones.

Comico collapsed when they started distributing their comics on the newstands through DC Comics.

Some info here:

Scroll down to question number 9.

It didn't help that after they went bankrupt, the new owner (Andrew Rev) was, by all accounts, a complete asshole and didn't pay his bills.
There's an article in a old issue of The Comics Journal where Bill Willingham talks about getting into a fight with the guy and taking equipment from the Comico office to make up for the money he was due.

Pacific was probably the first independent publisher I discovered, I was about 13 or 14 and I remember thinking that I was in on some big secret because I stumbled across every issue of Captain Victory and several issues of Silver Star at a used bookstore and I was stunned to see Jack Kirby doing non-Big-Two work. Great, great stuff, and I really got into the anthologies too.

Wow! I'm impressed that an article I linked to nearly two-and-a-half years ago is still available at the same URL!

So was I! That's why I resurrected your thread, Jim.
