So as not to derail any more threads, here's one that's completely MAD-centric. Post your favorite MAD covers, gags, artists, anecdotes -- anything and everything MAD-related.

I'll start.

Here's my favorite MAD cover:

Issue #166 dated April, 1974

No MAD feature has ever made me laugh as much or as often as the rules to 43-Man Squamish.

Other favorites are the parody for Star Trek: The Motion Picture and The Mad Comic Opera. The latter was pure genius.

My all-time favorite article? Probably "Henna And Her Sickos" from #265.

Favorite cover--probably the January 2007 issue (Dick Cheney, Alfred E Newman, and a smoking shotgun).

I have the first Mad Archive and a ton of those paperbacks that came out in the '70s and '80s. They are awesome.

MAD reminds me of Saturday Night Live, which is awesome.

My favorite SNL actor is Will Ferrell.

Has there ever been a collection of all of Sergio Aragones' Marginals? I would buy that in a second!

Yeah, I would be all over that too.

I think with this issue is when I first became aware of MAD.

My son has been watching Mad on Cartoon Network and LOVES it. I like it also. They mix a lot of classic stuff with new.

My favorite SNL years were the early years, with Aykroyd, Belushi, Chase and Murray. Some great bits during those years, such as Coneheads, Samurai and so many others.

I absolutely love Phil Hartman. He is one of my comic idols, and I "like" the Phil Hartman Fan Club on teh facebooks.

After seeing Willard in 1971, I drew my own comic-book version, copying some of Mort Drucker's art from the MAD parody.

Yeah, the show isn't bad. Tom Richmond has done a lot of character designs for various parodies, including GLEE and Batman Family Feud.

I wish they'd use even more stuff from the magazine.

I remember a paperback or two once upon a time. No doubt they're in a box in storage somewhere. Glad to see his work has been re-published in the book in the above link.

I remember reading somewhere that retailers were up in arms over that cover, thinking they'd received defective product. A classic cover.

That one's almost better than the cover with Alfred flipping the bird. It's a close race!
