There is definitely something about the Earth-2 that appealed to me more so than their Earth-1
counterparts. It may be that I am an old soul, or that I grew up reading my Dad's older comics,
but probably a combination of the two. They were just more fun than what DC evolved into.

I also liked the more modern All-Star Comics with the Super Squad and the Infinity Inc. books,
but mainly for their sense of legacy.

Perhaps Strange Mystery Tales will have even better circulation than Diktoland! Tho' I'm not sure how Earth-2 fits in with the rest. Nor do I mind! (Earth too? Earth for?) Somebody knows! At least the Shadow. Eh, is not, eh?

The board is now Strange Mystery Tales: Thrilling sagas of adventure and suspense.
So, it's broadening out, I hope, in a way so that we'll have a nice unified place to discuss older comics
as well as dime pulps, 1950s' Sci Fi, movie serials, and so on.

Linda envisioned the name akin to one of the Atlas type comic titles of the 1950s and early 1960s.
In a sense, these are all still Ditkoland topics—now just including more creators than just Ditko.

Beachy knew.

Great notion. Fun title. And you didn't have to "distribute" new sub-forums---so Silver Age :-D

Ah, if only I had my Wonder magazines!! That was an Atlanta-based underground publication for all the above.

I do miss the Huntress being the daughter of Batman and Cat Woman.
Seems a shame to have lost that.

I'm an Earth-2 guy myself. Those versions of the heroes always resonated more with me, perhaps the notion they were older made them more interesting. The idea that Robin had already taken over the Batman, that Green Lantern was in retirement, and so forth made the Earth-2 guys more complete as characters. Real life things could happen to them, even death back in a comic book time when such transformations were exceedingly rare.

When I traded away my DC stuff decades ago, I made a point to keep my Earth-2 stuff, and I certainly didn't regret that decision. :D

I think it'd be fun to have multiple Earths to give the DC heroes some "breathing room"... as it stands now, we've got heroes on top of heroes. I'd go --

Earth Prime: Modern DCU

Earth One: Pre-Crisis DCU

Earth Two: Pre-Crisis Earth 2

Earth Three: Fawcett & Charlton Heroes

Earth Four: All Star Universe

Earth Five: First Wave Universe (no super powers)

Let's not forget about the villians. Something about those guys just popped for me. THe Mist,Solomon Grundy, Sportsmaster, The Shade, and the Ultra Humanite!! They just came off more psychotic and creepy than Earth 1!

Howler! Great to see you here at Strange Mystery Tales and at IMWAN. I hope to see
you post more often. Great avatar icon there, too!

Seeing more modern takes on characters like Sportsmaster is one of the reasons that I liked
the Batman: the Brave and the Bold cartoon. That cartoon is just heaven for old time DC
Comics fans, and anyone who's still a kid at heart.

And I approve of both of Simon's posts there (assuming that he doesn't
go back and edited them later. But, really, I kind of approve of that, too).

Since we were discussing Earth 2, the cosmic powers that be caused me to double post.

The only thing that confused me as a kid about the parellel worlds is
how was it that the Earth 2 heroes came BEFORE the Earth1 heroes?
