Remakes are common in film and television, but rarely happen in comics. What remakes would you like to see? The basic plot would be the same, but everything else would be done differently.

Kitty Pryde and Wolverine - Joss Whedon and Paul Smith

Squadron Supreme - Millar and Hitch

Batman: Year Two - Matt Wagner and Darwyn Cooke

I like Millar's work about 50% of the time, but this prospect makes me queasy. I do not believe he would do a good job on this story.

I guess it doesn't bother me because the original books would still be there for those who want them, while books that either were rushed or had fill-ins could be done over. It could even be something as minor as Alan Davis finishing Year Two instead of early McFarlane, or having a consistent artist on Supreme with Alan Moore and Rick Vietch.

Those are reboots of concepts, not direct remakes of stories. I'm thinking more of finite storylines being remade.

I'd definitely like to see Kitty and Wolverine with a different artist, though not a different writer. Paul Smith is a good choice. Also wouldn't mind J.H. Williams III, or perhaps Alex Maleev.

Eternals(1985) - Walter Simonson all the way. Don't just tease us with only a cover:

I thought those stories were re-tellings of the various superhero origins. The Ultimate line in particular did remakes of specific storylines as well.

To a certain extent. The Ultimate line touched on certain things, like Peter's friend Harry being the Green Goblin or Gwen Stacy dying, and in the Ultimates you had Captain America being thawed out or Hank beating up Jan, but the overall storylines were always pretty different, and even the things that were referenced were done so differently enough that it doesn't seem quite as much like a remake.

The origins would qualify, though.

But, I'll put aside my desire to be "difficult" and play ball with some of the bigger comic storylines of all time --

Superman: Red & Blue by Mark Waid and Alex Ross

Spider-Man: The Master Planner Saga by Ed Brubaker and Steve Rude

Fantastic Four: The Galactus Trilogy by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely

Avengers: Under Siege by Kurt Busiek and Bryan Hitch

Batman: The Dark Knight Strikes Again by Warren Ellis & Michael Avon Oeming

Squadron Supreme by Alan Moore and Brian Bolland

JLA: Year One by Warren Ellis & Jim Lee

John Byrne's Hulk run (314-319), redone by Warren Ellis and Art Adams, and the subsequent Al Milgrom run (320-330) by Jeff Parker and Chris Bacchalo.
