We received some big news for Steve Miller Band fans. Not only is the band releasing a new album, but they are also hitting the road with the one and only Gregg Allman! Here is the official word:
The Steve Miller Band return with yet another new offering, Let Your Hair Down, which lands in stores April 19 on Miller's Space Cowboy Records in partnership with Roadrunner/Loud & Proud Records.
The band will kick off the album release with a Spring tour beginning April 19 featuring special guest Gregg Allman.
Prior to the album release and tour, The Steve Miller Band will celebrate the opening of the new Austin City Limits venue at The Moody Theater with a sold out gala concert event to benefit KRLU-TV, Austin PBS, on February 24, followed by the inaugural live taping on February 26.
Let Your Hair Down features the last recordings by harmonica virtuoso Norton Buffalo, Miller's "partner in harmony" for thirty-three years. Noted Pink Floyd album cover artist Storm Thorgerson, who also did the wonderfully whimsical cover to BINGO! returns to Let Your Hair Down with one of the great album covers of his career.

Storm Thorgerson should hang his head in shame for that cover. I think the poster art for Hop is better than this pretentious crapfest.
When I first read your comment I thought it said "the poster art for IHOP is better than this pretentious crapfest." Actually, that would have been true too. I've liked a lot of Thorgerson's work in the past but this one may be an early contender for worst album cover of 2011.

Looks like Stevie's following the same path as his last release "Bingo !" and putting out 30-35 minutes of music for a full retail price, and adding three or four tunes to jack the price up $ 4 - $ 5.
"Bingo" was rather enjoyable, and I know he's not the only artist guilty of this, but it's rather hard to respect the classification of "Special" or "Deluxe" Edition at an additional expense when the total package is still weighing in anywhere near the low 40 minute mark.

On the other hand, if it was twice as long because of filler, that wouldn't make it any better.

I agree J.D. !
I'm just decrying the practice of reaming the consumer in the first place. I don't see anything "Special" or "Deluxe" about a release that clocks in anywhere near the 40 minute mark with the inclusion of the additional tracks unless it includes something unique in the packaging, like Bruce's recent "Darkness" release or the leather tasseled Woodstock 40th anniversary DVD set. An extra set of pages in the booklet just doesn't cut it..........
