Usually when a superhero film is made, they sort of frankenstein together various aspects of the extablished mythology and then make up their own plot or one based on various plots from the comic.

Uusually, when a specific book is adapted, they stay with the plot given in the book -- they'll change some shit around, but they usually go with most of the source material.

So, if they had to use a pre-existing, specific comicbook story to make a movie... which ones would you pick? To kickstart it, pick stories for these characters --

Superman
Batman
Spider-Man
Fantastic Four
X-Men
Green Lantern

--but feel free to add whatever heroes you want into the mix.

Superman, Kingdom Come or Superman Red/Blue
Batman, The first Talia/Ras Al Ghul story
X-Men, the first New X-men story
FF, the real Galactus story from the comic
Green Lantern - Rebirth

Superman - For the Man Who Has Everything (which was done on the JL cartoon)
Batman - Steve Englehart's Detective Hugo Strange three parter (which could be the inspiration for the next Batman movie it seems)
Spider-Man - Death of Gwen Stacy (which was kind of sort of done in the Spider-Man movie)
Fantastic Four - the origin, only better than they did it
Green Lantern - the first Star Sapphire encounter.

Superman - Is it cheating to say "Supreme: Story of the Year"? But they should do it with the actual characters of Superman, Lex Luthor, etc. It's probably cheating, but I'm going with it. It would totally make Jeff like that story better.
Batman -- The Killing Joke
Spider-Man -- Kraven's Last Hunt (I haven't read it, but I have this gut feeling that it'd make an awesome movie)
Fantastic Four -- Fantastic Four vs. The X-Men (it's a much better FF story than it is an X-Men story, imo)
X-Men -- X-Men 235-238, the Australian team vs. Genosha. Partly 'cause you never see that specific team used in adaptations.
Hulk -- issues 368-377, which is the whole "green vs. grey" saga by PAD, culminating in the merger.

Superman - For the Man Who Has Everything
Batman - Year One
Spider-Man - Kraven's Last Hunt
Fantastic Four - the Galactus saga
X-Men - God Loves, Man Kills
Green Lantern - The Sinestro Corps War
Avengers - The Mansion Siege
Daredevil - Just to switch things up, I'll go with DD on the road and the confrontation with Mephisto and Blackheart.
Doctor Strange - The Ditko run with the confrontation with Mordo and Dormammu, meeting Clea, and the revelation of Eternity.
Iron Man - Extremis.

Master Planner saga, as the sequel to Spider-Man 2
Hugo Strange storyline from the Englehart/Rogers Bats run.
Galactus storyline from the FF comics, without the bullshit of "no one will buy a guy in a purple helmet" mindset.

Nice. I was trying to think of what would be a good Nocenti arc.

I just recently read that arc for the first time. Wild! You'd have to do it as a cartoon, but what a cartoon it would make!

Batman-10 Nights of the KGBeast, is the only one I can think of off the top of my head.
