Glad that Sports Fans is finally being added, I won't need the Capitol b/o any more. I didn't realize this until now, but based on the reissue track listing on Amazon, apparently all the reissues changed the track order, & this edition restores the album to the original running order.
If I remember right, isn't Iconoclassic the label that several here have raved about? Either way, tracks 11-13 are new to me, so I'm in.
It's too bad that they didn't include She's Out of Control from the Heavenly Bodies soundtrack. It's a great song from about this same period.

I'm in too-great album, and damn, if "Talk To Ya Later" isn't one of the best Rock songs ever. I still get a charge out of hearing that all these years later and MTV played the balls off of the video. A wicked guitar solo too and the lyrics rule.

Nice, nice, nice...I'm all over this. Love the Tubes! I'm with Geff though...they could have really done this right and tied up loose ends like "She's Out Of Control".

I'm still anxiously awaiting the DVD documentary that Michael Cotton first announced several years ago; I hope it doesn't end up being vaporware! (Even the website is close to abandonware) http://www.thetubesproject.com/index.htm

The Tubes appeared on "Fishin' Musician," a recurring skit on SCTV. Their performance of "Sushi Girl" starts at ~4:06. (Video quality is not the best.)

At that moment in 1981, I was such a huge fan of David Foster's pop productions, and with "Completion," he totally hit it out of the park. If not for "Talk To You Later" (very listenable but pedestrian), it would be the perfect LP.
All of the bonus tracks - as well as every song on the original LP - are featured in the OOP Pioneer laserdisc "The Tubes Video," which was also available on VHS but never on DVD. (It's the only reason I still have a laserdisc player.) Essentially, it's a video album featuring all the promo clips created for the LP interlinked by skits and more (including "White Punks On Dope") "Sports Fans" is a funny video, but I could do without a nude Fee Waybill! (lol)
Iconoclassic continues to exhibit excellent taste in their reissues, and this is one LP that needs an anniversary recognition.

Funny, I was a Tubes fan from the early days, & while I very much enjoy the Capitol albums (well other then the wretched Love Bomb), at the time I considered them a commercial sell out.
I have the VHS edition of the laserdisc you mention, & I agree it's a great concept video. Mondo Bondage & Sports Fans are especially hilarious!

I would love if the 1st album and Young And Rich were remastered with bonus tracks......I'd just be happy with Young And Rich being back in print.....(I did overpay for the A&M CD years ago).

"Out of Control" is from 1984, not from the CBP era.

my bad! Well if you also do Outside Inside, here's my request for Out Of Control. I have an needle drop of OOC, but would love a real remaster, it's one of my fav late period Tubes songs.

Regarding a possible "Outside Inside The Tubes" remaster....
It would be awesome if they could restore the original "Monkey Time" mix with Martha Davis of The Motels duetting with Fee. I seem to recall that the original album had to be re-pressed after it's initial release because Martha's record label didn't want her feature on another labels album. Michelle Gray did a fine job of rerecording the vocal, but I still prefer the original. I believe there might be some other movie soundtrack tracks, or other rarities, to include.

Which doesn't make sense, since The Motels and The Tubes were both on Capitol Records at the time.

Iconoclassics? Hello? Hope you are listening.
This is the first I have ever heard of this. I've owned three versions of Outside Inside (original U.S. vinyl, Jap import w/OBI and U.S. Capitol CD) and all contain Martha. Never knew there was any other.

My Capitol CD says "the monkey time: guest vocalist - Michelle Gray" I got the CD whenOutside Inside was first made available on CD. I recall that the switch was made soon after the original vinyl came out. I have the Lp with Martha, but a 45 of monkey time with Michelle. The 45 came out a few months after the LP since it wasn't the first single.

I just realized I have to keep my Jap LP w/OBI for two reasons. The first is for the custom label (they used the old black center with outer rainbow ring from the '60s which wasn't being used to great extent in the '80s). The second is that they moved the short "Amnesia" reprise from between "Power Tools" and "Let's Make Some Noise" on the original Side Two all the way over and placed it between "Mr. Hate" and "Attack Of The Fifty-Foot Woman" on the original Side One. Would love to know the origin of this change in different territories. Any Tubes scholars?

My copy of "Outside Inside" also has Michele Gray as guest vocalist on Monkey Time. However, the version on my copy of "The Best of the Tubes" has Martha Davis. You can hear Fee call her by name during their dialogue exchange. Hope that helps.

I'll have to check mine. I hope that doesn't mean I still have to keep Best of after buying this new Completion........

Though I really can't afford it, i caved & ordered this along with yet another Spirit vault release.
Weird, Amazon made me cycle through the entire ordering process three times before it took. I hope Linda got her commission!
For the last few months with Amazon US, I've pretty much always had to cycle through the ordering process 2x before it would take. This is the first time I remember it requiring 3x, though.

Amazon has just started using addiction-recognition software. It's akin to having someone stand in the store with you saying, "Do you really need this? Geff - look at me. Do you really need this or are you just buying it? Geff - stop looking at her rack of sale CDs and answer the question."
Jimbo is still trying to complete the order he started on March 27.
